bathroom wall colour dilemma

Hello,

my bathroom has a dark brown amtico floor and an area of grey marble around the basin and loo....

I am struggling to know what colour would work well for painting the walls

the bath etc is white and there are large white tiles around it....

I can't afford to replace the flooring even tho it is 'very brown' any ideas?

Hi Diana

If you want to address the flooring, you could break up the brown by using a vinyl 'rug' on top of the existing Amtico.

And there are lots of other less costly versions around (try e.g. https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/251849071/floor-vinyl-rug-vinyl-mat-tiles-pattern?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=vinyl mat&ref=sr_gallery_22)

You could then choose the wall colour to tie in with whichever rug you choose.

Alternatively, you could go for a warm grey tone that will work well with the marble and still be warm enough to carry the floor. Something like Farrow & Ball Cornforth White (although I would definitely get a tester of this before committing to it - it has a remarkable ability to change colour depending on the light in your room!).

Always worth checking with Lasscos, if they don't have any then they may be able to suggest where you can get some, and who may be able to restore the ones you have. They have a few locations so worth going and having a look or at least giving them a call. They will also probably have some other 30s bathroom fixtures. Try laminate sheet suppliers. You can often get this in 10' sheets and quite a wide range of colours.

Thank you for the photo. I think Farrow & Ball’s Skimming Stone would be the right tone with the stone style tiling. Dulux Egyptian Cotton also may go. Here they are, top is Skimming Stone and bottom is Egyptian Cotton. Get sample pots just to ensure it’s a good match.

I agree with the others - go for it! It’s going to look fab! I like the dull greens more than the more foresty greens, I had a bathroom painted that colour many years ago, and I think it’s less likely to go out of fashion. It’s verging on being a dark neutral.

Funnily enough, I have used Cornforth White in this moodboard without seeing Studio Vie's comment.

I was thinking greys and greens...
