Need help with paint colours for living room
in the midst of transforming our living room, recently installed contemporary log fire with the wall behind now tiled in stone mosaic split-face tiles to create a feature wall. Desperately need help with paint colour for newly plastered walls to complete the room. Wood floor is oak & a corner sofa in chocolate brown are key pieces we are working with in trying to create the ultimate contemporary look.
Any ideas for paint colours to complement what we are trying to achieve gratefully welcomed.

Comments (20)maria galvano thank you, I love them too and make me smile whenever I look at them, I bought them from a Bedouin woman in Petra (Jordan). They remind me of an amazing trip to Syria and Jordan some years ago, travelling independently using public transport and meeting amazing people along the way, both locals and tourists. Loved Petra so much and the local Bedouin people, went back for a second day to have another look around as well as sit and drink mint tea and listen to amazing stories ... and yes, they make my home feel alive as most things in it have some connection to a life lived. We sticked to the grey furniture in the living room. You can find a tv unit that matches your sofa colour it would be a good balance. the light on this pic is wrong, the unit is the same colour as the coffee table Also, I found some Kelly Hoppen interiors with grey and gold colours As you can see from the pic she made a grey front wall (which is stone here), grey unit, gold decor. It looks very luxurious. For your interior add some gold decor in the room, it can be a gold frame, vase, candles. ___ Or you can go for a beige unit. In this case you need to consider one thing, a unit needs to be balanced with something also beige in the room. Comments (4)Here are some examples for light, airy living rooms with brown leather furniture. In smaller spaces, the trick is to use furniture with visible legs and clean lines. So you can see the floor under it, makes the space look larger and it also doesn't block the light so much. Same goes for armrests that aren't very bulky. 6 years agoHa, funnily enough I tried some colours out on your walls in photoshop yesterday, which doesn't mean a thing, since it always looks different on screen, and I too thought that Ammonite worked well. Still, do try it out. Painted the skirting All White. Threw in some pattern with cushions, a framed poster will reflect light and is more interesting than a mirror (which loads of people use) and I thought that you could perhaps place a different cabinet for the TV along the wall next to the fireplace.
