how easy is it to change a fence colour?

I would like to change our fence colour from green to grey. it is very washed out now but how well does fence paint cover and will it work to change it? any recommendations on brands of paint too? And the previous owners use to spray the fence....there is quite a lot of it....but what is the best way to paint a fence. sorry so many questions!

Can't fully answer your question other than to say I sprayed my fence too and it doesn't give the same depth of coating as a brush on. It's a different liquid for a sprayer. It does a lighter depth coat so perhaps it'll be relatively easy to cover.

Specialist 'Fence' paint that you spray on is quite thin, otherwise it wouldn't go through the sprayer. You can paint the fence with any wood paint- Satinwood works well, gives a bit better longevity. I've even slapped on Masonry paint before now, that works great too. Proper paint is obviously thicker, just use a nice big not to dense brush and work it in. The first coat can be hard work, but subsequent coats are a lot easier.

I don't know about what the best flooring would be as I don't have a dog. But, how easy it is to change it will depend on how it was laid. If the flooring was laid after the kitchen was installed then it should be fairly easy. If the kitchen was installed on top of the tiles, then I would say it's going to be near impossible, without removing the kitchen first - my parents are in this position.

At least daily here. I changed to washable cloths (flannels) specifically so I could do this: it's very expensive to change a store bought cloth every day. I also change the tea towel and kitchen hand towel daily. They absolutely need it as well. The tea towel gets soaked several times/day. It does depend on how large the household is and how much time is spent in the house though. If it's a single person or couple who both work outside the home, eat dinner out a lot etc, a weekly change is no big deal. I'm at home every day, with friends and family passing through all the time, so the kitchen is very heavily used.

Hi, the slabs were Natural Paving products. Premierstone Platinum. size: 900 x 600. They look brilliant, people love them, they are easy to sweep. However, they are a deathtrap! Kids in socks skid over on it and if there is the slightest bit of water it's like an ice rink, especially the steps! Am going to paint it with a non slip coating in the hope this solves the problem. You also need to make sure they are bedded on a solid base of mortar, rather than blobs, as the blobs wick up the moisture and you can see this on the top of the slab. Saying that, I do have a French drain under the patio, so there's a lot of moisture there. I only got round to painting the fence this weekend (Rubbish I know!) Started out the front and will work my way round the back as each panel needs adjusting as it's sagged. Oped for Cuprinol Silver Copse in the end. Really happy so far.

I think you already have a lot of grey. Definitely paint the shed though. As MATH says use Cuprinol Ducksback. Both me and my son have used it on our fencing and it really is fabulous easy to use stuff. Needs a minimum of 2 coats and is currently on offer at several shops. First coat takes longer to put on, then the second coat goes on really quickly. I think I’d be tempted to use black for the fence and a contrast on the shed. I have my side fences Silver Copse (grey) and the back fences Iris (dark blue).

thanks v much. ive actually used weathershield paint on my garage doors so i could just use the same paint then. and it would match perfect. thanks for the idea.
