Curtains or blinds for dark room?!
I have a double living room, one side light and with white shutters, and the other smaller room is painted dark (a bar room) with a small window above a radiator. I can't decide whether to get blinds or curtains (although can't go full length because of radiator so probably blinds?) and in what colour? Would velvet look good?
Annoyingly the windowframe is white plastic which isnt inkeeping with the style of the room so would want to cover without blocking out too much light

Comments (18)Hi, If you are looking to modernise the look, personally I think light, bright and fresh colours work best along with highlighting the features that are already there. Remove the curtains to open up the room and maximise the light. For the window you could opt for Roman blinds then to add warmth just dress curtains on the outside of the window to help soften the sharp lines. I love the bold, dark colours but I would go for a light blind to balance it out. Something like below in Floral White or even simple sheer white such as Chenille - free samples are available from our website blocblinds.co.uk.

Given the two rooms have contrasting decor. I would keep to this theme and blend the windows in to the walls they sit on. I like the shutters... So I would consider a slatted blind for the dark end of the room with fabric strips (Tapes) You can now buy slatted blinds in all colours either wooden or faux, and so matching to the wall would be in my opinion the most stylish option. Most blind companies will send you some sample pieces so you can match to your walls.. you can also choose the strips to compliment or stand out.. In your case I would choose compliment..
In this way the room is seen as a whole... So the eyes do not dark directly to the window.... :))
