LED Lights for Roof Light

Can anyone advise how to secure some led rope lights to light our new roof light? We would like them at the bottom, to light upwards, but not see the bottom of the light. The area has now been plastered and painted and unfortunately the builder didn’t build out a lip for them to sit on. Any advice appreciated! Thanks

You could use extruded aluminium channels with led which will be installed into the sides of the roof light. Similar to this this

You could also put up a simple lip using quadrant for the light strip to sit on. Just buy the thickness you need for you tape to sit on Wickes Quadrant

Hi there, 10 LED downlights could be enough to fit your needs, but a bit more information would be needed to be more precise. The number of LED downlights you require depends on the type of fitting, but also on your floor to ceiling dimension. The higher your ceiling, the wider the spread of light and the better the coverage. The size and position of your skylights may also have an impact, as this will affect the setting out of your downlights. You might want to consider also using a floor lamp or two at the edge of the room to throw light up to the ceiling. Light will be reflected from the surface of your ceiling making your whole space much brighter. Hope that is of some help. Best of luck with your project!

I need to buy the lights for a large flat rooflight 4m wide. I was thinking of an LED strip, but happy to consider other options. What do I need to consider? Do the lights get fitted in a lip nearer the actual ceiling, or higher up towards the glass? what do I need to consider? Someone mentioned you need to find room for a transformer or something? If this is the case where do they normally go when lighting something like this, and do they need to be accessible to change at some point? Any and all advice would be gratefully received, and any pictures or assistance of what to purchase in the way of lip, lights etc.. Thank you so much (I know nothing about lights) I am having an electrician fit them, but i'm responsible for purchasing the fittings and fixtures.

Do you want to see the reflection of the LEDs in the roof light? I wouldn't like that as it will show up every mark on the glass every time it gets dark.
