Comments (50)Hi Getty Welty What a shame about the worktop but I think it's almost a blessing in disguise. Once you have settled on the worktop my advice would be to take samples of the cupboards & worktop to a tile shop and look at them altogether. You really need to see a large tile together with the other samples to appreciate the overall look. A 10 x 10 sample is only a representation of the whole tile and the colour changes on a larger scale. We always advise our customers to do that if possible as its really important to make sure the overall tones work well together. Comments (49)We had a similar problem. Had two rads and two plinth heaters, but they weren't working properly and we were freezing. Had the plumber in and he adjusted them and now we're toasty in a matter of minutes. Get one plinth heater put in and plug in a small electric coal or log effect stove ( cheap enough) to bridge the gap. If your windows are thermally bridged have you thought about contacting the window installer to complain , about the problems you are having? The builder, too , as he should have ensured your extension was properly insulated. The suggestion about thermal lined curtains that pull right back during the day is spot on as it will help insulate the room and the kitchen will be warmer in the mornings to come down to. Finally the door is essential as both the hall and front door area are most likely sucking away any warmth from the kitchen area, especially if there is a stairwell. I now think if I was doing mine again I would dig up the floor and put in underfoot heating but this is way too disruptive to consider now. Comments (46)Today, I got out all my F&B sample pots and painted those on cards. There are too many to list but around 7 colours in the grey/greige family. However to my surprise there is a company near me that does the full range of Little Greene Paints! I went to take a look through their samples and came up with these neutral/greys. I took a floor tile with me which the samples are sitting on top of in the picture. After looking through them all I decided to buy Slaked Lime 105, Slaked Lime Dark 151 and Rolling Fog 143 to paint on cards at home and put them in different areas of the room, against cupboards and furniture etc. One of the colours appear to blend best with the floor and the other blends better with the worktop...which is the best option? I’m guessing the floor? Also, if I tried the darker shade of either colour on one wall, for the lighter neutral walls should I use the same colour but the lighter version of the colour Example - Rolling Fog143 (darker wall) then Rolling Fog Pale158?...See MoreThank you! Comments (43)Hi Morsenet - in that case I would highly recommend Karen from OnePlan. I was in the exact same position as you, had tried what I thought was every version possible but deep down I wasn’t happy. Spending the money (small amount in context) with Karen made me and my partner confident and happy with the design. She respected what we’d done already and gave us a fresh perspective combined with her years of knowledge, it was a easy process.
