Wall painting colour dilemma
Comments (4)Can you not remove the picture rail, that would then raise the ceiling height? If not I'd be tempted to use 'natural calico' or thereabouts on the ceiling and above the rail. Below this you could use a yellow, something like 'Babouche' F&B, a beautiful colour. I wouldn't have a feature wall though, with the picture rail and fire surround you, have enough going on already. Nice size window and room though, good luck....See MoreSofa colour, blue, red, mustard or pink
Comments (7)I think a neutral sofa is a good choice. Navy is actually quite a neutral shade that will go with so many colours. I also like charcoal grey, and let’s not knock a cream or beige sofa! I agree that it’s best to base a rooms decor around the most expensive item and work from there. I think you will tire of a bright pink sofa. I fell in love with a bright red sofa once, but came to my senses and bought a more neutral one! So glad I did. How about a range of pink cushions on a navy/grey sofa? Or pick , say, the mustard yellow in the rug and get cushions to match? A rug would ideally be one of the final purchases to pull it all together. However, you may find the rug will fit in well with a new neutral sofa, so don’t discard it yet. I love a jazzy rug and it has that trendy vintage look. Here’s some ideas. Comments (6)For your information, F&B Skimming stone has a Lightness of 85.25 (out of a 100). A Chroma of 6.154, which indicates it is a near neutral. And a Hue Angle of 88.21° So it sits close to the centre of the Yellow Hue Family. Useful if you need to partner it with other near neutrals or even more colourful colours. You can use the geometry of the Wheel to create harmonies. Were you to find that Skimming Stone felt a little to yellow next to your pinkish brick, the strategy would be to find something with a similar Lightness & Chroma, but move the Hue Angle anti-clockwise nearer towards the Yellow-Red Hue Family. But I hope your colour dilemma works out fine & this is knowledge to tuck away until you need it again. 🌈...See MoreBlue and pink stains under paint
Comments (4)I can guess that you are renovating old property and this is your external wall (interior walls are usually fine and not as much heat barrier dependant) might be lack of insulation within the wall, or condensation behind or you might have different plaster.. Are you sure that you are applying correct paint to your plaster? hard to guess by low quality of picture (if) lime plaster then you need mineral paints.. chalking means that your surface is not stable so whatever you apply, won't be able to hold.. (if) your walls are fine and normal and no water/moisture/etc behind it.. then it might be your cold spot (is it back door on right of picture) ?...See MoreAri Mac
