Surge Protection Device options [SPD]

Hello to All,

I've had massive issues w a Variable Speed Pump tripping
the 20amp DP GFCI breaker it resides. Nothing else is on this breaker except the
pump.

I have (2) 200amp service panels in my garage which one feeds the
pool panel [about a 30 ft run]. My pool panel has no more slots open to install
anything -100% full

In order to protect the pool panel [mainly the VSP
breaker] at the closest possible proximity, are there any cost-effective options
to install a SPD at the panel? As of now, my only option is to install a 20amp
thermal breaker right next to the breaker [on the same buss] that feeds the pool
panel. Obviously, anything that happens beyond the 200amp service panel, the
pool equipment is on its own.

To conclude, my main concern is the pool's
VSP breaker at the pool panel. No other breakers at the pool panel or the
breaker that feeds the pool panel have ever tripped, just the VSP
breaker.

For your convenience, I have included a pic of the breaker
feeding the pool panel [top left/70amp], a pic of the equipment pad and a pic of
the pool panel showing breakers and no more buss slots.

Thank you very
much for your help, tstex

Hey TJ, you should be able to fit a spd locally to the pump.

Other options are installing one in the board.

Looks a little dated though, im from the UK so not familiar with some of your equipment.

Alternatively theres an option to cover the whole system with a type1 spd at source.

    Hope this helped.
