Soundproof Privacy Glass (Interior)

Hi Houzz,

I'm about to start a renovation project and am searching for a UK supplier of soundproof privacy glass (video of what we are looking to achieve below).

We have designed for a pane of glass to separate two of the bedrooms and another to interface between a third bedroom and a hallway, so sound transmission and privacy are a must.

We foundIQ Glass UK but (after asking us to email them a brief, frustrating...) they let us will not supply as our project isn't big enough. We need two windows, each about 800mm sq.

Has anyone had any experience with similar projects and/or could you recommend another supplier?

I wouldn't recommend using sound proof glass. The cost would be astronomical. You are better off using a double glazed pane.

Hi, thanks for the comment. I did get a quote for soundproof glass and it came out a little bit high, youre right. Im not sure a double glazed pane would give true privacy needed between the two rooms (we don't get privacy with our double glazed windows to the street.

Maybe 13-15mm thick glass panes with air inbetween?

Hi miss. To put just right and the best solution for your entrance is very important and we can say dificould to. There is many important facts you should think about ( architecture situacion, your taste and wishes, investition, how strong is the day light etc.) You have two posibilities, chouse and make artistic stained glass before paonting the interior to chouse color of wall on stained glass or second which is more dificould and left to designer of glass less space is to make the project for already colored ambient. If its important for you is great to think input the glasses in triplex glass sistem (stained glass is in the midle of two glasses) to protect them, easy cleaning and get a good U thermo index. You can use one of two diferent technics of stained glass (leaded or "Tiffany"). Leaded glass is very old technic of producing windo glasses and traditionaly used for victorial style. The star of Art Noveu is Tiffay technic. But for the doors and ambient we more prefer artistic glasses in "Tiffany" becouse it is much more strong and delicat look from near position. Special in arabic countries is very popular rich victorian mansions with new "tiffany" stained glasses inside. Any way its my opinion and recomendation to use interior designer or master artist for design of stained glass art to make your project just perfect and you will lather nor regret where you invested the money. I can say you the price for autor unique slech will be from 50EUR. In my studio we normaly offer three diferent skeches which using all information we have (architecture situacion, your wishes and investition fond) to make your wishes come thrue. I think you have a lovely amount of space in your living room. Maybe just to brighten things up with a statement sofa and some accessories. The two small walls are enough for some division in the room which I think is important! I LOVE the chair in the corner of the room idea! I think if you brightened up the place with some fresh cream paint and added some canvas paintings to the wall you could really have an open space to come into. Sorry, I know this is not what you asked about but I’m not sure why you’d need two parallel sofas and televisions right next to each other. If you laid the furniture out differently in the family space, it might impact on how you designed your windows. By having a large sofa facing away from the kitchen/dining area, it blocks off movement in the space and means that if family members are in the room while you are cooking, they are facing away from you. If you have lots of glass and reflection, you won’t be able to watch tv. You’ve got a lovely snug room right next to this for watching tv. How do you think you will use the space? You might want to keep an eye on the kids while you are cooking but I’m not sure that this layout allows this. I’d maybe think about a two seater and an armchair and a footstool to break it up and allow more movement

Hi,

Just a thought but have you considered triple glazed units and then adding American shutters. The shutters will give privacy and help with the sound issue.
