Grey Decking stain colours

Hello,
We are trying to smarten up our garden and want to stain the old decking across the back of the house in a grey colour. (See image with the black bifolds) However I'm not sure whether to go for a really dark grey or lighter colour??
Cuprinol anti slip is my preference as it can get slippy on a wet day so it solves two problems in one.
They do an urban slate which is a dark grey, or a silver birch which is mid toned.
Has anyone used these before?
The idea is to introduce some contrast as everything is quite brown/beige in the garden as no grass!
The far corner decking has a grey sofa on. It's never been stained so I'm not sure if we need to match the two or if I should do them different tones of grey??

Comments (5)Yeah I probably wouldn't paint it - not over stain either. Buy the decking cleaner & jet wash off all the old stain. You can buy a grey stain now which looks like paint but isn't a standard paint. We used grey (ducks back) for our garden woodwork & shed doors....See Morewhat colour of skirting for grey floor tiles

Comments (28)It looks really lovely! So what kind of kitchen will yours have? It would be useful for us to know the colour of that, since it's all open plan. I made a sort of moodboard for you of what I'm thinking. I did it with your original sofa choice and slipper chair choice in mind. Wanted to show you a slightly more square slipper chair with a more modern graphic pattern. Don't look at the design of the other sofa, I picked it more for colour than for shape. Just to show you a darker beige. And it goes nicely with that chair. But I like the cream or your original choice too. 6 years agoOh I wrote a whole para out and realised it's not posted! Argh!
Anyway - we did a lighter coat last night but it looks awful
The colour is COMPLETELY different to the tin colour by about 5 tones!
I complained this morning to Cuprinol and they are sending me a voucher
Husband did a poll at work and they all said it's way too light as it's turned out a dove grey colour! (Bit lighter than my photo) and has no depth to it.
So I now have to redo it in the urban slate which is also a lot lighter than the tin colour so it's probably what silver birch should look like

The grey really worked but the light one was too light so we just used it on the step. It will be ok for the far corner though when we tackle that side of the decking!
