What stain/finish did you use on the table? Trying to replicate it.

Hi annsamarin, i would have put danish oil onto this top , about three layers, buffed up between each coat, and let the spalted beech do the talking.

Oh dear, I hope your company didn't lay them... The problems are legion, but the most striking mistake is in the layout. The tiles do not follow the line of the stairs, nor are they symmetrical. This will ALWAYS make the hall look lopsided. When you add in the colour scheme and lack of other period features, the owners have a problem. Are these encaustic tiles? The colour is far from traditional for a hallway and as others have said- more suited for a bathroom/utility room. If they are encaustic, why not move them to the garden and make a Mediterranean courtyard? The hall can then be inviting rather than blinding.

My last recipe was for a Vegan Chocolate Cake. My friend is Vegan and she was visiting one morning and because I couldn't find anything nice in the supermarket so I thought I'd try and bake my own. I've got loads of cookbooks but I find it easier to search the website Allrecipes. People cook something and share it on there, others try the recipe and then rate it. The cake was delicious by the way and was enjoyed by everyone, Vegan or not!

ooh thanks guys! Nice to have some replies. Thanks, it's very cute it was sort of a faux mahogany colour before, this is much nicer. Lot of elbow grease haha! Perhaps then I could treat it with Osmo oil first as it looks like it might bring out the warmth of the colour a bit and offer some level of protection. And then I can add wax on top. Any recommendations on wax? Unfortunately not, it is a stain and the colour on the tin will mix with the colour of the wood it is going onto so the colour it says it is is not always what the finished colour will be when applied. As it is an oil it will penetrate the wood so it is not easy to remove, however it will fade in time and a light sanding will help to tone down the colour. If you are ever just wanting to protect the timber use a clear oil, this will just enhance the original colour of the wood.
