Need help with an awkward space. Utility/boot room

We are having an extension built at the rear of our house so that our wheelchair bound daughter has ground floor accommodation. The extension will leave us with a 4.6m brick wall extending from the left of the kitchen door and a partition fence to the right. The width of the space will be approximately 1.8m. To avoid the space be just a shaded walkway, we would like to make a useful indoor space, utility come boot room. The space will need lots of light.
