What kind of windows are those?

I love the look of the windows. Is it aluminium? do they open?

Hi!

This looks like a door combination, from the hinges it appears to be french doors with windows between and then another set of french doors. you can replicate something similar with aluminium and grey georgian bars. Also the roof is a mono pitch roof which will sit on the steel above the doors.

I have never seen this style of aperture and wonder if it is original or perhaps outside the U.K. However since you have already cleared a lot of ground in front and therefore it will be visible from the street I would say swap the windows for something that compliments the rest of the house. If you intend to convert the cellar you will likely need a window you can escape from. You also have security considerations.

Venetian Blinds are so flexible. You can have the slats open to let in light, or slanted down just a little to get rid of any glare. You can also open them up completely when you want lots of light. Wider slats painted white or left natural and made of wood or mdf are very popular now. Like this

I lost all my box to blight last year. I have had mixed luck with yew hedging elsewhere in the garden. I would also recommend Sarcococca sweet box (a misnamed shrub in my opinion which isn’t affected by box blight) it that flowers with fragrant small flowers in January). Photinia also makes a nice hedge with the addition of new red growth if kept well clipped. Pittosporum small leaf varieties can make an interesting informal hedge. Some varieties have leaves that develop a pink tinge when the temperatures drop. Even a variegated holly can make a super hedge if you can bear the prickles when pruning.
