Kitchen Splash back ideas

Can anyone help me with ideas for splashback for this wall?
The worktop is leathered granite (titanium), it's a little bit busier than it looks in this pic.
I would like something light and I love the all white look. I really love white geometric tiles like the pic below but not sure if this would work. The units and worktop are matt so I think I'd like something gloss/reflective. I would add colour with non permanent things, plants/pictures on other wall etc.
Also, i think I'd tile this whole wall because I don't have units all along the wall and I don't really want the exposed edge.
Finally, if any suggestions that are completely different to anything I've said here I'd still love to here them...I'm not totally set on any idea. The only look I don't want is shabby chic or anything too country kitchen.
I've added pic of the wall in question and also of tiles that I love but not sure if they would work together.

Comments (7)I agree with Cathy on this. Glass splash backs without the wood upstands would look great. I've used a company called Decoglaze for these in the past. They are not the cheapest, but they do a fantastic job. If you choose a light colour for the splash back, you'll need optically clear low iron glass. Otherwise the green hue of the glass will change the colour. For dark colours, you can get away with normal glass. As the glass is going behind the hob, it will need to be toughened. I'm assuming from the photo that the job is electric not gas. Have you got under cabinet lighting? This will enhance the effect of the glass quite a bit....See MoreKitchen splash back

Comments (21)Saw an article on Apartment Therapy talking about mirrored splashbacks recently. Had some lovely photos featured, I personally preferred the options where the glass is raised up from the hob slightly. Could you maybe get a piece of the upstand cut to fill the gap? Also having it 'framed' by wall either side looks better to me than it spanning the whole space. I've mocked it up to extractor fan level and to ceiling level (I've guesstimated the tile scale but hope it gives you the idea). 6 years agoI love the geometric tiles you have chosen. They will add pattern and interest without looking busy. Metro tiles are always a good safe option, but I much prefer your choice! Let's face it, if you like them, then have them. I chose glittery pale green mosaics in my kitchen, not everyone's choice, but I love them and I get lots of compliments.

6 years agoThanks to you both for feedback! I was hoping to find something a little bit different but still subtle, metro tiles are definitely a safe fall back. Not sure if it makes much difference but to get an idea of overall look, it is an open kitchen diner and I will have an upholstered button back bench, like pic below but with no arms, this Lombok table which is quite industrial and has a bit of geometry and probably something simple like eames style chairs. At some point I will get pendant lights for the breakfast bar, something simple like glass. Not picked them but pic below shows the sort of idea.
I know that all of this lacks colour at the mo but I'm planning on having a gallery wall above the bench, blinds, plants etc.
I can't change the bench or any of main kitchen (units/worktop).

6 years agoHi. The kitchen looks great, where did the fridge end up going?! I like the tiles, they will go with the units and the prism shape mirrors the table. I also like the idea of adding a different texture however I don't think the different shades of white work together (on my screen anyway!) so would look for a different shade of white . How big is the veining as choosing a different scale for the prism tile would work? You could also consider a grey grout. I'm not sure my pictures help but just showing a tile laid in a pattern with a veined worktop and sandwiching a black worktop with white units and tiles. I love the angel and boho bench, I've posted that so many times on here! These chairs aren't a wishbone and no longer available (!) but maybe a wishbone could work or something similar in shape? I might also paint the utility door in the wall colour to help it blend in?

6 years agoWell remembered Minnie101!! The fridge and freezer are side by side on the left side where the utility ends, they are integrated so not too 'sore' looking because they are technically at the end of the dining area.
I absolutely love the bench too, I have about another 3 weeks to wait for delivery, can't wait! Space is a little tight for dining area so wanted the bench so I could put it right against the wall.
I totally agree about the different white, I already have this problem with the units and the doors/skirting, I'll have a look at the other colours and see what I can do. Glad you think geometric could work though :)

6 years agolast modified: 6 years agoA solid glass splash back (as mentioned above) is the way to go. They are easy to clean, which is the most important thing, as food and oil will get stuck in the tile grit. I I would go for a neutral or grey tone, however you can get patterned glass splash backs.
