How to do a Gallery wall eclectic style?
Comments (6)Types as and colours of frames will depend on the style of your room, for example if you have a contemporary room the frames need to be angular and plain, for a traditional/classical room they need to be a little more elaborate and perhaps with a metallic theme to reflect the period. if the room is brightly coloured /retro use frame colours to mirror the colours in the decor. If your chosen colour or colours are unavailable to buy, paint them your self 'blue peter' style. Make sure they are sanded first to give a key for the paint to adhere to....See Morehelp with new sofas...
Comments (12)Hello cnvt, For the size of the room... I'd suggest a 2 or 3 seater in the red you like.. It will go with the armchair you have. Then add 1 or 2 armchairs to match.. Place the sofa to face the fireplace and the two chairs could be placed with space between where the current sofa with brown throw is.. This means you would have a feeling of flow as two chairs take up less room... The striped armchair then could stay where it is and as Minnie said you can dress everything with warm, neutral shade cushions and the curtain fabric if you can find it for some cushions, is a good way to compliment the look... A creamy throw or two on an arm of a chair and sofa could be good.. With the darker colour it's important not to fill the room with large furnishings.. The two current sofas are really too much but because they are light they are not so heavy looking, so for this reason I'm suggesting 1 sofa and possibly 2 chairs.. : ))...See MoreCan you mix 3 fabrics and 1 leather?
Comments (5)You can definitely mix and match patterns and plains for a homely look, you just need to take care with colour co-ordination. I'm no expert, but my current furniture is a little similar to your planned scheme - I have a yellow-cream leather sofa, a bright red chair, and a chair with Paul Smith inspired stripes. There cushion colours currently include red, turquoise and gold, reflecting colours in the chairs. I think I'm just about getting away with it because the contrasting touches of turquoise pull it all together - it didn't work as well when I had just red and gold in the cushions. With your scheme, I like the spotty fabric, but I'm not sure the grey works with your other colours. I'd think about swapping this for a plain fabric and let your lovely plaid chair be the star. Maybe consider a stronger accent colour in your cushions?...See MoreHow to get a fabric seat cover to stay on our leather couch
Comments (5)I used non-slip on my leather sofa- the stuff you put on the floor to stop rugs sliding. It did help keep sofa blankets etc in place but I must confess a fabric sofa (which I now have) is much easier! Alternatively, could you get the back and seat cushions recovered or do it yourself if you have a sewing machine?...See MoreJonathan
