Comments (26)Just used Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Old White on a solid pine unvarnished wardrobe. I watched YouTube tutorials and got advice from the shop that sold me the paint. I HATE it! Really difficult to work with, paint brush drags making my hand ache. I was told 1 or 2 coats would do but had to use 3 and I can still see the wood through it. I was told it would only use up half a pot of paint, but it has used nearly all of it. The chap who advised me (sells painted furniture for a living) said it can be finished with wax (hard work) or a Matt varnish (easier). He showed me furniture in these finishes and I chose the varnish. It was really easy to apply but has accentuated the wood colouring underneath. Comments (18)Thank you 504937. It is me that is the glitch I am afraid. I see what you mean about the larder doors. The drawer between the sink unit and the ovens is 800mm. Do you think that is big enough? I wondered about using a 90cm range cooker instead of 2 ovens, to create some more storage space. With regard to the bin, that is a worry which pops into my head from time to time. I can place a compost bucket and a landfill bin in the 80cm under sink cabinet, but bottles and tins/plastics need a place too. That means a double bin for them. Comments (19)At the risk of being controversial, I wouldn't put very much faith, at ALL, in anything you see on Garden Rescue. Some of what they do is atrocious and will quickly fall apart. On a more constructive note, nobody ever seems to consider including a sink. If you have one it could be very useful fro food preparation as well a little bit of washing up, washing hands etc. I am going to find a stone sink for my garden. Comments (13)I would go for the full length cupboard above, think it looks really sleek. You may want to reconsider how you store all the items that you have on display, maybe a countertop unit or other storage so that you maximise wall space. Perhaps a carpenter could create additional storage similar to that hiding the boiler? Also store items below the boiler inside the cupboard? I personally don’t use every single item daily and prefer a sleek look. My old bathrooms below!...See More

6 years agoHi, first I would think about drainage. A flat surface will hold the water and you would have the same problems as before. I would slightly raise the back (1 inch should be enough) and have a small overhang at the front so that water won't damage the front of the cupboards. Some marine ply or tanalised timber covered in shed roofing felt should do the job (see image, but angle doesn't need to be as high). Not as good looking as Daisy's roof tiles tho:)
