In cupboard bins
Comments (30)In our previous house we had Ikea in cupboard bins. They are covered when closed and were brilliant. We collected all vegetable waste for the compost heap and had no issues with smells. The bins are not too big so regular emptying also helps keep smells at bay. We don't have fitted bins in this house but have a good looking bin ftom Dumo (I think) which has two compartments, 2/3 recycling (We can recycle everything together here) 1/3 landfill. We have a separate food waste bin and have no smells. Anyway, if I had cupboard space I'd probably go back to an Ikea bin but that'll have to wait until kitchen gets redone one day!...See MoreKitchen cupboard paint colour
Comments (17)I don't know if you're painting this yourself but personally I might make some updates before doing so. Kitchens are very expensive to paint and I don't think its money well spent if you don't love the actual design (just going on your ideabook though so may be wrong). I think your canopy along with the "fillers"is wide enough to do similar this in the first pic? If you decide to remove the cupboards I would do something similar to the 2nd pic and probably add some form of shelves to bridge the space between the oven. i would also make the end of the island into bookshelves. I think once the decorative pillars and fillers between the base units are painted they will blend in. You could try shaded or shadow white and see how it works with the worktop but they're quite good colours for dark rooms. I would keep the island the same colour as the outer units. I do love inchrya blue but just wondering if a light colour will make the ceiling seem taller (although the blue won't make it any shorter than the red!). Unless needed for privacy I'd remove the blinds and maybe think about wooden shelves on the rhs...See MoreBest oven configuration?
Comments (31)I prefer the rectangular island as in your last posting, but would move the ovens to the left, giving two full doors to the right alongside the door into the room. I fully agree with all the comments regarding accessible worktop for placement of hot items straight from the oven, you do not want the ovens directly opposite the hob. The I also think that it would look better!...See MoreOutdoor Kitchen DIY - Cheap and simple design?
Comments (19)At the risk of being controversial, I wouldn't put very much faith, at ALL, in anything you see on Garden Rescue. Some of what they do is atrocious and will quickly fall apart. On a more constructive note, nobody ever seems to consider including a sink. If you have one it could be very useful fro food preparation as well a little bit of washing up, washing hands etc. I am going to find a stone sink for my garden. I will have it attached to a mains feed but one could have a sink on tank feed with an on demand pump supplying it....See MoreKluk Construction Ltd
