Dark dark bedroom walls what colour carpet

So I'd like to paint my spare bedroom walls and ceiling a dark rich navy. Like farrow and ball drawing room blue and add blush and copper to the colour scheme by way of bedding and accessories

However I am stuck on carpet ideas. What colour should I go for? my husband insists on carpet although I think a dark dark wood even laminate would be better!)

I would go for a very pale carpet or whitewashed floor.

Are we allowed to say both? Both can look equally as great depending on the rest of the decor (and of course the bed linen to go with it!). It's nice to mix between the two every few years, a lick of paint can make a room feel entirely new.

Hi Anna, I know it's a pain inheriting an outdated room but how exciting to make it your own! I think a scandi look would really energise and brighten this space too. Take a look at two rooms we have styled in this way. Our blinds fit perfectly in bay window areas allowing extra floor space and not blocking any heat from radiators. Dear Claire,

I'd choose wooden floors any day over carpeted floors as they're much more durable and give an airier feel, however if you end up agreeing with your husband on having the room carpeted I'd recommend a warm grey carpet like my design shows below:
When it comes to a wooden floor a whitewashed look might look modern but could provide too harsh a contrast, instead I'd opt for a mid-tone warm grey or pale brown.

Thanks Irene (I won't agree with my husband as I think a dark wood is best but you know what it is like-anything for an easy life!! I may just lay a wooden or even vinyl wood floor and wait for him to notice)

haha go for it, I haven't seen anyone regret putting down wooden flooring instead of carpet!
