Comments (0)I would love to get some tips on garden paving. Our budget is about £20 a metre. I tend to like grey and I like things to be a bit different and quirky. I fell in love with this paving here <div><a href='https://www.houzz.co.uk/photos/modern-in-bed-stuy-contemporary-patio-new-york-phvw-vp~5586205' target='_blank'><img src='http://st.hzcdn.com/simgs/44f17e2b0229e47c_8-2961/contemporary-patio.jpg' alt='Modern in Bed-Stuy' border=0 width='500' height='750' nopin='nopin' /></a></div><div style='color:#444;'><small><a style="text-decoration:none;color:#444;" href="http://www.houzz.co.uk/pro/neweco/new-eco-landscapes" target="_blank">Photo by New Eco Landscapes</a> - <a style="text-decoration:none;color:#444;" href="https://www.houzz.co.uk/photos/contemporary-patio-ideas-and-designs-phbr1-bp~t_10324~s_2203" target="_blank">Search contemporary patio design ideas</a></small></div>...See MoreGarden - child friendly ideas
Comments (6)I think you have a nice little garden and it is not too big to keep an eye on little ones playing. Firstly make sure your gate and fence at the end is secure...speaking from experience! Both my boys managed to get out and run away when small... I too would keep / renovate the decking (you can get some good decking paint these days that would make it look like new) making sure there are no splintered areas. It would be nice to park the pram in the shade for baby's sleep for now, maybe consider adding a sandpit to the side opposite the flower bed later on? Kids always love that. I would also repaint the walls all round, train some nice rose bushes or climbing plants up the wall from your raised bed. Alternatively use this to grow food, kids love helping with this. Then I would do a grass area, just a few strips of turf would do, in the middle, to soften it up and provide more interest and texture. Then perhaps a path down to the back gate and keep a couple of paving slabs by the gate for ease of access. You could even use wildflower turf rather than grass! Doesn't need mowing, just strimming back once a year, plus it provides easy flowers that will grow and self seed on any soil and pollinators love it! Lastly, its hard to see in picture if that is a shed at the bottom by the gate? If it is, keep it, you will need somewhere to store kids garden toys in the future, believe me!! Hope this helps x...See MorePaving on garden drop of 0.8 meters - solutions to avoid decking
Comments (1)Hi, If you want to use pedestals then you will need a solid base to sit them on. I would suggest that a perimeter wall is built off a foundation. I would then infill the area with well compacted granular material such as crushed concrete or crushed granite. You should now have a solid base to lay the patio stones. Don't forget that you will need a balustrade to comply with building regulations. Kind regards Andrew...See MoreEliza Gray Gardens
