carpet or floorboards
Comments (2)We're toying with the idea of floorboards with a carpet on top as well. The only issue we foresee is that the skirting board will have to be removed so the floorboards can slip underneath. In our house, we've found the wall plaster has to be repaired after removing the skirting board, especially if they have been previously glued to the wall....See MoreShould i paint or oil/tint over bitumen-y floorboards?
Comments (10)Having read reviews of various floorboard treatment products I opted for Osmo. A bit more expensive but has given a hard wearing finish with no problems. I would go with a light finish rather than try to blend in with the dark bitumen- more character? We had a bitumen problem having sanded boards in a Victorian property, I found the wallpaper steam stripper very effective and quick to remove sticky black residue. I know you say you're not concerned with that issue, but might you regret that decision later?...See Morewhitewash without sanding?
Comments (5)using a varnish stripper you will be there for ages the lacquer, will need to be sanded down to bare wood to allow the product to absorbed in to the wood for longer durability, and my preference product that i like to use for white wash wooden floors is WOCA wood lye,in white, is 1 of the best products, that us pros use ,or Farrow & Ball Floor paint , with woca products i have create a lovely colours by mixing different colours together,...See MoreFlooring issue with patio door threshold.
Comments (8)We had exactly the same-builder and window supplier blaming each other. If you've got the energy then it would be better to get it fixed, but we were also working during lockdown and let things pass which in normal times I would have kicked up an enormous fuss about! I initially decided to switch to LVT which would have fitted fine and had a couple of suppliers come round, but my heart was set on timber-I don't know exact height but I do know that when we set it a board in place it sat higher than the door threshold. The main thing is finding a wood floor installation specialist, not the local flooring shop. He was completely relaxed with having to deal with an old concrete slab, a new concrete slab, wooden floorboards and a door set too low-all to be covered in one set of timber! We had four visits which included sanding down the concrete slab in some parts and building it up in others; sealing the slab; plying the floorboards and levelling the whole lot. He then took a floorboard and tapered it, then set it along the doors, at 90degrees to the main run of boards-those boards had to be meticulously cut. If you look closely you can see that it slopes, but it looks deliberate rather than due to an error!...See MoreАрхитектурно-дизайнерское бюро "5идей"
