New internal doors for 70-s semi

We are planning to change the original creaky doors upstairs. They were made of cheap pine stained teak, as pictured below.
Initially I wanted to paint them white, as I did downstairs (or black, in one case), but my dear half did not want the hassle of living without privacy.
What would be the best colour and style to go after, please? I think about simple white doors, but my husband insists on light oak ones.
Will be grateful for suggestions, as I did not find a lot on midcentury doors on Houzz.
