Help in deciding what shape and size floor tiles
Comments (9)I'm not sure if they're more fashionable? My personal preference is typically rectangular. Tiles laid in a grid pattern means you get a long grout line and leads your eye onwards so makes the space feel bigger. Laying them diagonally means you still get the long grout line but you don't "see" the edges so it feels bigger still. Large tiles are generally much better to create the feeling of space, less grout lines so less busy. It does mean your floor needs to be really level though. You also need to be careful tHat it doesn't become busy by the number of cuts needed for the tiles though!...See MoreStill struggling with tiles or splashback!
Comments (6)upstands look good if they are only 100mm, walls must be completely smooth to paint, a splash back is a must behind a cooker either a coloured glass or a small tile as a splash back. Make sure you use a kitchen/bathroom paint on the walls and seal the upstands with a top quality mastic after painting at the top of them and your walls. Any excess mastic can be removed with wet wipes....See MoreHelp can’t decide on wall tiles!
Comments (4)If you’re really keen on metro tiles, i would choose the skinny white metro tiles but I’d put them in a herringbone pattern. Get a professional to do it and use a resin grout so that they are easier to keep clean. If you want something more practical, then go for big tiles with as little grout as possible. The patterned floor tiles are lovely! Definitely go with those!...See MoreIs the struggle to agree holding you back?!
Comments (14)Yes it sounds like a dream to have such easy agreement Daisy. Sonia - I've met so many men like that! They're not really so interested, or they don't really want to see things change. Sometimes I've seen that it can hold things back when one half is so uninterested that they won't engage in a conversation about it. Especially if they're going to be paying for at least some of the work and they need to be brought on board, then it can derail things or make it harder to get things moving. That's really frustrating for the person who wants to make some changes! Do you think that the state of your house reflects more on women and so we take it more personally? Where maybe many men don't equate the way their house is with any kind of social judgement on them?...See More- 7 years ago
