A Hidden Garden Transformed Into A Wonderful Open Space!

I was hired to transform a wild garden into a beautiful open space. It was a hidden gem hiding behind a small house, their planting needed taming and the only feature they wanted me to work around,was their urn.

I opened the garden space out, clearing the overgrown, unkempt planting that had gone wild and gave the urn the prominent space within the garden it deserved.

I kept the formality of the house in the garden but allowed some loose planting. There is room here to grow and it will be great to see the development over time. New areas to entertain have also been created, as well as a utility area for a shed, compost bins & wood storage.

Some kind of terrace roof will allow you to use the space through more of the year. Umbris patio/terrace roofs have automated louvres in the roof so that you can allow sunlight to bath the terrace when nice weather. when it is raining the louvres close flat to create a fully watertight terrace cover (important in UK to use an outdoor space for more than a few months of the year). Hi Shantell - there are benches and a table and chairs along the wall of the house that are hidden by the trees in this photo - they are completely bathed in sun when the sun comes out in Edinburgh, beautiful place to sit and relax!

Thank you Daisy - it was a really lovely project to work on and what emerged from a dark overgrown garden was a real gem for the clients. In Bath with outdoor space usually at a minimum, this garden was a real surprise.
