DECORATOR COMING IN FULL HOUSE REPAINT Cohesive look

Hi again, I have tge decorator comings in october going strip my lounge and replaster then repainting my house fully. Treat to myself for my birthday. I have a small 3 bed semi and want to give it a more cohesive look I like Farrow and Ball Tunsgate green for main walls and Churlish green to pickout Feature walls. Want to create a calmer look with flow but not boring I love colour and not afraid to be bold but need a overal look rather than individual room themes. Only coloured carpet I have is rather lovely moss green stair runner that I have based my colour choice on other floors are lounge parquet gorgeous. Not so gorgeous terracotta tiled kitchen but had to stay for now and neutral oatmeal wool bedroom carpets. Love this black wallpaper with grey gold silver birch trees for behind my bed will it work???? New robes black gloss. Sons room red robes what do I do here without changing too much and little spare room no idea what to do. How do you use the two colours? Do you pick a feature wall in all of them don't want it look like a had a job lot of two paints but dont want it random. Open to other colour suggestions but grey lovers I find it a bit dull in my home south facing dark lounge and can live with greenish grey tones more just saying love greys on the pics of your homes but not here something wrong with my daylight lol mine looks drab and muddy in true grey. Looking forward to your ideas try a give a glimpse of my rooms very hard with phone pics here goes. Thanks in advance love this site great ideas and help from you guys.

Hi- just an fyi, I'm American and we Americans do NOT use real wood for weatherboarding!!! 20-30 years ago ppl used vinyl but that had issues, now they use a very strong resin board. No rotting or painting.

Figure out what you have to work with - furniture you already have, features you can't change etc. think about how you will use the rooms, and where you will keep things. Storage is king. Measure everything, floors, windows, etc and keep this information all together, and bring it with you every time you go to an interiors shop or wherever. You might set out to buy a sofa and spot a great table so you need all your measurements! Choose paint colours last. Paint comes in every colour and colour is the only variable, so it's an easy choice to make. Other items like curtains, furniture etc have more variables- size, shape, texture and colour - so you need to choose those first. Don't follow trends for the sake of it. Don't buy everything to match as the house will look like it came out a catalogue! Stamp your own personality on the house wherever you can. It's a long process. We are eight months into redecorating and still only about halfway there. I don't have one single room that I feel is finished. But I am loving the way the house is gradually morphing into what we dreamed it could be, and people's reactions when they see our latest change. Enjoy it!

We are doing a similar project and are a few months down the line from you - our builders start on site on Monday. Your architect can tell you what to focus on first but ours told us the first decisions needed (after the structural layout) are: - glazing ie any sliding or bifold doors or special rooflights or windows, choose where you are getting them from and be ready to order - kitchen, choose supplier and decide on layout so you know where plumbing and electrics are needed - plumbing layout, so think about where radiators or UFH will go, your bathroom layouts, plus any kitchen/utility plumbing. - electrical layout, where do you want lights and sockets (this means you need to know where your furniture is going!) - choose bathroom sanitaryware, as some of this has to be installed pretty early - choose floor finishes ie the exact tiles, wood etc you want - they need to know the thickness to make sure they can get the finished floor levels to match up. (carpet is not so urgent) I would recommend getting on with these decisions as soon as you can especially if you want to have time to shop around.
