Hi Tom, we used Eldorado Stone (manufacturer) in the Mesquite colored Cliffstone line.

Hi Heba I concur with what a lot of people have said about the sealant. Some paving stones are more porous than others and will need sealing to prevent them from absorbing water. I am also concerned, from the photo, that the water has nowhere to drain to. All paved areas need to be laid on a fall (a uniform gradient) to allow water to run off them. This fall should be directed to a drain or planting border so that it has somewhere to drain to. I recommend pavingexpert.com as the most concise and simple reference for information on these matters. Regarding the colour change, I'm afraid this natural weathering happens to all stone. The stone can be brought back to it original colour by jet-washing.

It's difficult to truly replicate the natural beauty of something like Travertine, Laura. However, Karndean and other luxury vinyl tile (LVT) manufacturers can get close and can offer additional benefits that Travertine cannot offer. Main points being the one you hit on… general maintenance. With a natural stone floor you will need to have some kind of routine maintenance factored into your "free time". Depending on the tiles thickness, you do also run the rick of potential cracks over time. Here's a reply we recently posted to a Houzz user posing a similar question: Karndean and Amtico are the brand LVT leaders. Amtico been about for 50+ years, Karndean 25+. They are great at marketing and their position in the market means you pay over the odds for what you get. They both deliver very, very good products and designs but compared to other reputable manufacturers on the market they are pricey. If you don’t want the upheaval of removing the fireplace, how about painting everything in one colour? So paint the wooden shelves, the wall behind them and the fireplace in one colour. Using a darker shade is popular and will update it, though if you prefer lighter colours then a nice taupe or white with go well. Here’s some examples and although they’re not exactly like your room, I think it can give you ideas.
