Sprucing up a loft for kids/play room
Comments (1)I think a good size for an en suite should be approximately 2m x 3.5m. The position of the en suite really is best on the side where the drainage is most accessible....See MoreFind design Flaws in proposed plan
Comments (3)This looks great- just a couple of notes- The planned kitchen looks like there are less cabinets than the outgoing one- perhaps you should have a look at a kitchen design before you break ground so that if you want to move the back door or any windows you can. In my opinion the skylight in the family area would be better closer to the main house so you get light into the centre of the ground floor. In my opinion you don't have to spend the money on an extra skylight for the kids playroom as it is perfectly acceptable to have a windowless shower room and utility. In the shower room you will have to swap the basin and wc to allow the door to open and if it were mine I would rather have a bigger shower than a window. I think you need to consider your living room furniture to ensure the double doors to the hallway are in the best place- I feel that if they were near the front door it would make the entrance and your first impression more impressive. You asked about the upstairs- An estate agent will advise you if your local market demands four bedrooms or a good three with two bathrooms. Personally I think it will be likely better as you have planned it. Your upstairs plan suggests future plans to extend upwards. If you do extend you will have to change your roof. You should check that planning is possible and if you are no longer going to match your attached neighbour that you don't make your house less attractive and therefore less saleable....See MoreKids lounge - What fabric for blind & floor cushion?
Comments (11)I've just been playing around with a few bits, excuse the collages as they're not very high resolution. As the paper and lights are sophisticated I'm personally finding it quite hard to find kids stuff that works! The 2nd blind fabric shown on the wallpaper in the last pic I think would work for any age (albeit slightly unusual pirate ships!). I haven't had a proper look for a trunk but a vintage steamer type one would work, the boys might find it fun to role play with that and the "sea" rug? I can look for other bits if you like the idea and maybe some different cushions...See MoreIdeas for my kids playroom
Comments (15)What age are they? If they are not old enough to read to themselves but you want books in there you may want an armchair for you to sit on and a couple of cream furry beanbags for them. I have had one of those indoor teepees and although they look nice they take up a huge amount of space, although some kids may like them. I would suggest a huge amount of storage as they have so much stuff at that age. Are they into lego? Mine still play with it every day and it absorbs them. We have a ton of those clip lid boxes (available from Rymans) and it's sorted into those. Also, I have never ever met a child who doesn't like art. A space to at least draw (if not paint) is really absorbing for children, and a display wall is a good idea. They also love fairy lights so that may entice them to use the space on an evening. Put in soft flooring, no one want to kneel on a wooden floor. Narrow shelves to display books are a fabulous way of introducing colour and good design. These put up against a deep toned wall would give good visual interest....See Morekl55hp
