Help me finish off my kitchen please!
Good evening all
I posted on here a few months ago for advice on my kitchen layout, we have now had our extension and the new kitchen is in. I'm really pleased with it and I love it. The kitchen is an all white, mat handless and the worktop is white corian.
But I'm struggling to pull everything together to create the final look. I really love the Scandinavian look and I was hoping to use grey as an accent and possibly tie navy in somewhere too.....can anyone give me some help?
Not sure whether to keep walls white and if so - how do I choose a white? I never knew there were so many shades!
The room is south facing and we have a large decked area and a big garden beyond the bifolds once the temporary make shift fencing the builders put there has been taken down!
I need a splashback (not a fan of tiles) pendant lights above the island 2 or 3, a rug and an arrangement of 3 armchairs by the bi folds, plus a very small side table to rest a cuppa on - but although I know I like grey and navy I don't know what colour to put where?
Please, can anyone tell me what to do!
P.s the blue on the cabinets is the cover film I haven't removed yet until they put the floor down - I have put pic of flooring already bought in

Re grey & navy you could use navy on your walls if you have of plenty of light as it will bounce back or you could use a grey or white and go for navy accessories or vice versa or even grey pendants
There are some amazing splashbacks available with or without pictures i.e milk pouring/water splashes or even able to upload your own pic or words into a slash back
I will show you one pic of my smallest area of my kitchen to show you my color splash which I have different sizes of on all walls

Comments (10)Hi Jo, I understand your problem, I had a similar issue in the past and it was the cost of hiring professionals that was the problem and I had to get really creative to solve the issues! Listed building consent is free. You could apply for this yourself, if you actually needed it (planningportal). You could call your local council and speak with the officer about what you want to do and get their advice yourself without having to hire anyone. If this gorgeous place was my home, I would add some beautiful glass / french doors to the conservatory and keep them closed most of the time. Then in the conservatory dining room I would add some gorgeous conservatory blinds (including roof blinds) and or curtains and some great radiators (I really love the ACOVA ones, they blend traditional and modern really well and are really efficient) or use the plug in type to heat the space an hour before dinner. I would probably get insulating blinds and have fun with a colour scheme for all of the soft furnishings such as rugs and anything that will help keep the place feeling warm. I am not sure how large or young your family is, but if you were considering a rejig of the kitchen, adding a small bar area would suffice for breakfast and mean you only had to heat the conservatory on weekend lunches and at dinner times. Comments (6)I'm at the end of renovating a whole house and if you're anything at all like me you are probably skint by now! And like you I'm running low on ideas too. Looking at your room I might be tempted to temporarily finish it off by not spending too much money and have it ready for Christmas telly lounging! Then maybe next year (or later ) when you're up for it finish off however you're inspired. So I'd put Ikea shelves above the TVs and paint all of it dark. Having said that I've got loads of books and they always make rooms look good! I'd also keep the fire for now and put book shelves low down the wall and put plenty of artwork above....See MoreHelp me finish off this space!?
Comments (10)I often lay out my pictures on the floor below the wall and use a tape measure for scale, then you can play about with the arrangement and take photos before putting anything on the wall! Or you can also use brown paper to make templates of your pictures and use frog tape (you can tape this to a wall without it damaging the paint) to stick them to the wall until you have your desired layout! 6 years agoHi Monica. The kitchen looks great. I'd go for a light grey on the walls, you could look at farrow and ball strong white or a darker grey such as cornforth white , both should work with the floor which has grey tones. Can you take more pics of the seating end and give dimensions? I'm just wondering if a small sofa would be better next to the kitchen units (broken up by a really tall plant) with a chair in the corner between the doors with a lamp behind? The compact sofa, chair (also comes in grey and yellow) and floor lamp are all m&s. I like Monica's idea of enamel pendants, these are by pooky. Will you be dressing the windows at all? I'd accessorise with lots of different textures and plants to get that scandi feel. I'd look at a mirror splashback which will also make the room feel wider, I like an antiqued effect for texture but you may prefer a plain one. If you're keeping the walls very light then a few accessories such as picture frames will work

a few more pics of the end of the kitchen where I need some soft seating. These pics are with the internal bi folds open which lead through to our lounge. Most of the time these will be open so it opens up the whole of the back of the house all south facing.
any advise I'd be really grateful
