Double light fittings in hall

In my hallway I have 2 light fittings fairly close together and at different heights. I want to put up some better fittings like chandeliers or pendant fittings but not sure whether to get them to match or not - any ideas would be appreciated!

For me they wouldn't have to be matching lights, but obviously they'll have to go well together. Are you looking for something modern?
I'd change the pendant in the vestibule to go with the other ones.

I think the Moroccan shades are beautiful. So lovely to have an authentic find that will have personal memories for you on display. I think the wicker shade is a little dull compared to your other light choices, would you consider painting it? A lovely Moroccan shade of blue or green perhaps? Here is a link to a wicker artist who gives advice on spray painting furniture - http://www.wickerwoman.com/articles/painting-wicker Not sure if the same rules apply for paint to a surface close to a light source but a paint specialist would know. Finally I wondered if you would consider a Moroccan style centre light - with all the angles in your ceiling a central pendant may throw some interesting patterns. Hi, Landing and loft conversion looks good, next tricky part will be picking the pendant you want. Please may I ask, have you opted for an electric velux window blind or have you simply left the window without a blind because the positioning of the window doesn't need a blind for privacy. Just something else I am thinking about. Hope the knocking down of the wall went well, I bet the space feels massive now. Thanks for asking. I am adding an extension to the kitchen with a little utility and toilet at the end. knocking the wall down between kitchen and diner to make open plan. Downstairs bathroom is becoming third bedroom. Upstairs I am adding a dormer at the back to make a bigger second bedroom and adding dormer to the front for bathroom which also means a new small landing. New central heating, retire etc. also changes outside garage has gone ready for a new one to be built. Attached are photos of my hallway, first is at top of stairs before little hallway extra was added second is the start of new hallway, walls coming out for bathroom door which is wher dormer will be the planning on putting the velux next to it. All very exciting stuff, I'm not the most imaginative so it's difficult to imagine what it will all look like in the end where to put lights etc, similar to you really

Hi Karen, You can light the pictures in a couple of ways depending upon the effect you want to achieve. If the pictures are far apart and you want to highlight them with a shadow around, you can use an adjustable downlight with a narrow beam pattern - say 20 or 30 degrees. If you have lots of pictures close together, you can use a wall wash fitting to spread light over them. I have been using some great LED down lights for this. Alternatively, you can use wall mounted picture lights to fit over each picture and illuminate them individually. I hope this helps. Peter

I'm looking for glass pendants or chandeliers but haven't got a huge budget. The article looks useful - thanks. I'll give it a read.
