Comments (13)Thanks for your suggestions - the table was at the back of the kitchen before and was a bit of a squish if we had guests and ideally I would like to get a bigger table at some point that seats 6-8 so will need to stay in the conservatory. I like the idea of some sort of bench, I could move the radiator to another wall. I have also had fleeting thoughts about an island but not sure if I have the space or the right configuration for one as or wouldn't be in the middle room.....off to look for bench/island ideas, thanks all...See Moreget the kitchen layout correct before you decide on colours etc
Comments (3)As a kitchen designer, what do you find a proper appliances budget for a kitchen these days, and which brands have you had most success with. We're going to start our new kitchen in a month, and between the 26cu. ft. french door bottom drawer freezer fridge, 36" gas range we're already at CAD$6,000 - my wife (and me) want to upgrade to the 48" dual oven gas range which will push the budget near CAD$10.000 - is that the norm these days or are we just not finding the right stores?...See MoreLayout and colour scheme
Comments (26)So, unfortunately I had some computer problems, so had to take photos of the screen, but how about something like this? Two 2 1/2 seat sofas and a loveseat (I used the Izzy from Sofa.com for size). A window seat in the bay window could be cute. And under the other window a play area for the little one(s). You could use the cupboard space next to the fireplace for wood storage or for shelves to display lovely items...See MoreA jiggle and a zhoosh... Living room colour and layout dilemma
Comments (12)hi i can see what you mean. our new extention created a dark end to a pretty bright North West facing room, i dubbed it the Josef Fritzel wing. For me the issue is not the colour of your walls, it's the natural light distribution. Its a long dark tunnel at bottom end. What about adding a glass door and glass insert above the door frame at the dark end of the room. Graded tones of any colour would work better being lighter at the darkest end of the room then working back from that. We replaced all our internal doors with full length glass ones, ans got builders to increase even more by adding glass above door frames up to ceilings in 3 door ways. I estimate this added 15% more light into the room, and also adding a pkeasing dimention, in that as the sun moves around the house, it casts its light in key areas thru' the day. Perhaps explore the possibility of a light well tube thingy in the ceiling that casts natural pools of light into the darker areas ( always better than artificial). Plants that favour shade and some low energy LED practical lights rather than in the ceiling might add some life to it as well. One the light issue is sorted, the colours can be thought thru'...See MoreA S
