Recommendations for island cooker hood

Hi I'm looking for an island cooker hood for my hob and am looking for recommendations.
Our ceiling height is about 2400m and we'd like one with extraction, not recirculating.
We're based in the UK and are looking to spend around £500. Ideally looking for something that's reasonably quiet as we like cooking a lot.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I would suggest looking for a flush ceiling extractor as then it won’t block the view through the room and also as heat rises, it can be more effective than standard extractors.

A venting hob like the Bora is the best solution, especially if you plan to use an induction hob. A ceiling extractor is discrete, but, if you enjoy cooking and making fumes, a ceiling extractor is not likely to work as well as a good ventilating hob. If you do speak to Westin, I think they will tell you that a ceiling extractor is not the best solution for cooks who like to make lots of vapours, especially with smokey cooking. A ceiling hob is usually too high to be effective for serious cooks, unless it has a very powerful motor and has a deep inclined baseplate, which does not help your issue. A venting hob can extract outside (with forward planning) or, in most cases, recirculate. The expense isn't that high given that you get a hob and extractor in one.

If you do opt to have a chimney extractor, neff for example have chimney extensions of 750mm for taller ceilings for some of their extractors. The chimney can easily be cut to allow for the sloping ceiling by a competant kitchen installer, I've had to cut down many chimneys when I was an installer. Your kitchen designer should be able to advise you the different options you have though for your extractor and a high ceiling.

Just about to start new kitchen/ diner extension and trying to figure out lighting options over the island which will have the hob on it. Problem is the island will span across existing kitchen and into extension which will have higher vaulted ceiling - this makes the mood lighting options a bit tricky without a flush ceiling. I don’t like the option of pendant lights over the island with one hanging from the vaulted ceiling on a much longer cable. I wondered if there are cooker extraction hoods (which we will have over the hob) available which have built in ambient lighting for the island as well as downlighting for the hob…has anyone come across such a design and can recommend any?

Hello, We are in the process of renovating our apartment and are looking for a good worktop cooker hood. We are not great cooks but want to make sure we have a good system, allowing us to enjoy our kitchen. Notably, we want to ensure that the whole apartment doesn't smell each time we cook. Which hood would you recommend for an island with recirculation. Bora Pure is currently our favorite but we also hear a lot about Novy Panorama.
