Good morning, It may be worth measuring the room and uploading a plan, so that Houzz designers can properly assess the room and provide an accurate layout for you. Get some measurements of walls, windows and doors, as well as the ceiling height.

Thanks, Jonathan. Your suggestion is excellent so thanks for taking the time to put that together. The walk-in wardrobe and en-suite would be luxurious, and it's great to have some hallway storage but we weren't that keen on such a small back bedroom (it could be a maximum of about c.3.4m x 2m, by my estimates, due to where the soil stack is, 30cm to the west of the current bathroom window). However, it got us thinking. A third toilet (particularly a WC) would be handy as both me and my wife work from home and would have, COVID allowing, clients visiting regularly. I came up with this spin-off from your design and wondered what you thought. What do you think of this? Is there another way to make the 2 other bedrooms double rooms?

I vote for number 1 too -as bathroom sounds could be disturbing for the person left in bed !!

Thank you for all your comments. As most of you prefer option 1 ..i drew up 2 more options... taking in your reasons why option 1 is better. which option do you think is better now?

original option 1. These have narrow walkways, an inaccessible cupboard in one an inaccessible desk in the other, bad tv locations, and 2m of open space. it's all cluttered into the corner, not using the space well. What you had first was better

Option 5. I understand bed against wall of bathroom but this bedroom for 1 person only. I'm trying get dble doors to balcony better than single door. this person likes alot of sunlight too in the room

Not so clear but if I read correctly, 40cm?? between the bed and wall/door? No! Add window coverings and beddding and you're practically up against the wall, with a tiny dust collecting nook there. And a small desk along a pretty much unused wall. What's wrong with the first option? Who are you designing for, what do they say?

my problem with option 1 is that the door to the balcony is small ..not double sliding door that enters the sunlight and view. also option 5 has a window seat (big one piece of glass) and tv on the wall will be very close to the door. I think option 1 works well but it's normal ..nothing special about it.

consider shortening the desk, maybeb increasing it in depth too, and having a slightly larger door.

I think option 1 works well but it's normal ..nothing special about it.

Prioritise needs and wants in the space. It's true there's nothing special about it, but having it 'work well', be well proportioned, have decent flow, etc, are in it's favour, and those are important aspects of design. The other plans, sorry to say, have ill designed crammed spaces, will end up looking quite strange with the contrast of open space and bad orientation to the tv. Compromising these important aspects mean that an extra/ nicety like a big door or a window seat are barely noticed in the inconvenience of the rest of the design. You're better off using the space you have well, and decorating it well, than adding in more than the space can accommodate.

The drawing of Option 5 shows 'sun rays'. A window of what, 2m? along the side where the rays are indicated, should provide a good amount of lighting. Add to that the balcony door. Use light decor that works for the look he wants and you'll have a bright space.

But is this not even built? If not you can jig things around and steal some space for the window seat

Yes it's 2m window ...i can add few more cm or less if I want. it's built but I still didn't do the electricity and plumbing. it's red brick inside so I can move anything around at the moment

Entrance of 1.5m can be used for closets as well.
What are the dimensions of the bathroom as shown? If you shortened the bath somewhat it would allow for a bigger balcony door
You might be able to steal some space and have a 60cm walkway beyond the bed, then a 55/60cm window seat. move the tv to the right end of the desk too. I suppose it will be wall mounted?
I still prefer option 1 as is, but these are your options

thank you so much for your effort. I really appreciate it.. this bedroom has history to it now the bathroom is 1.83 x 2.50m so I don't think I can take from it. I m thinking your right and just stick to option 1. I tried to make it more interesting but I just don't have the space. At least my son has private balcony and ensuite bathroom.

It's my pleasure, I enjoy this :)

Are you planning for a bathtub, not shower? If you get a shower, you can have a 900 by 1500 one, get another 300mm in the room, slightly bigger doorway perhaps.

There might be a way, if you want, you could share your entire plan and we can have a shot.

Otherwise, Option 1 is quite a good use of the space, with the advantage of a balcony too.

yes my son prefers a bathtub 180 x 80 and then toilet then sink ..all on one side ..the door opens on the other side ..and a radiator .
