Lounge almost complete but need some ideas please
Comments (47)Hi thanks very much for the useful hints and tips, they've really helped! So far I've done a subtle re-jig of the decorative items on the shelves and thinned them out a bit to make it less busy (and more contemporary). I have added a cushion and throw plus a bit more useful storage baskets and so far I'm happier with it now. I also have to consider the overall flow of the room rather than 1 wall - for example when I walk into the room this wall is on the left and the sofa wall is on the right, and there was a risk that if I added shelves etc on this wall it would then unbalance the look of the room as the sofa walls are so far pretty plain. I'm getting a new sofa next month and when this arrives I'll be able to see the room in its finished form and can make any last minute adjustments!! I want to add some more shiny stuff and will get a nice chrome tray or centrepiece for my glass coffee table. Pffft, this house decor lark can take over your life sometimes :))...See MoreWalled patio needs personality
Comments (15)I think there is enough room to treat it like a room. I would furnish it with sofas, outdoor rugs and a table and chairs. I would put plants in massive pots so they need infrequent watering. I would likely add some interest to the walls with climbers and trellis and mirror. I would also consider privacy so perhaps a parasol or sails or a pergola?...See MoreNeed some ideas for my ktichen walls please
Comments (6)Our kitchens are not just a place we find comfort in cooking to unwind, and of course where a lot of us eat, it is a place we often choose to entertain and socialise. Our kitchens can be our public display of our style tastes, and one of the pleasures we get from this is that 'WOW!' we get from visitors. You have painted a clear image of your kitchen, and I can imagine it looks amazing. Modern, Chic, and stylishly put together, to get a clean, strong statement about your positive, and strong personality. Dramatic shades of Grey and Charcoal are important role players in a monochromatic scheme, with a bold accent feature (Red). Similar to other neutrals they can be really varied, for instance some greys can add a real sense of depth to a small area of a space, allowing the other elements around it to 'pop'. Greys and charcoals also work extremely well in areas that are uses a lot during evenings, with the correct lighting they can help set a mood to create a foundation for your theme, to give you a real stand out wow! Using a paint that is matt will compliment the light properties of the glitzy worktops by contrast, creating a lux-contemporary feel to the space. I have given a couple of examples for an idea book below. I hope this was helpful, please contact me if you would like to chat about your design dilemma some more, and please give us a review. Comments (9)If replacing your patio is not something you want to consider, see if you can hire a Karcher hot washer from your local Hire shop and ask if they have a weed lance attachment for like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wPH0qs_jKUA Research in Belgium has shown this to be one of the most efficient chemical free weed treatments for paving. If they don't have the special lance, the normal lance will do but turn the pressure down as you don't want to blast the mortar out from between the slabs. The temperature setting needs to be 95C at least. Looking at what you have there, it is the original old ex-council crazy paving, there is no sign of subsidence in the photos, so the substrate is good and well laid, it should last for decades. As councils no longer use these heavy slabs, as far as I know this material is no longer available but they were made to last....See Moretamp75
