Bedroom with dark blue wardrobe

We just bought this dark blue Ikea Pax. We are struggling a bit to put the rest of the bedroom more cozy and warm. We would like to add a futon and curtains. How important would be to paint one or more walls? The floor is cement and the walls are white. Any suggestions on color schemes would be very appreciated...

I forgot to add: the headboard is white leather and the bed has to stay (lamp is temporary - we need lamps attached to the wall (absolutely no space for night stands). Thanks

Looking great already. I love the cement floor, and would be tempted to go a bit more industrial. I personally prefer the darker colours with the contrast of wood to add warmth. You can get some fab brick style wallpapers. You could also consider a bamboo blind instead of curtains?

Hi All! Many thanks for your help. Cariad Home Styling it was my first thought, but the bedroom door leand to a very nice hall, and from the hall you would only see the wardrobe side, which would look quite ugly. I suppose I could add a piece of victorian furniture in that end (something small and lovely).. I'll give it a try. Thanks! whirlligig the problem with this idea is that I have a beautiful cornice work, and floor to ceiling wardrobe will hide this feature! I cannot copy this cornice and add it to the wardrobe in the ceiling end, because they are not conventional... :( Feioi yes you are right. At the moment I just have the bed, but I'd like to add some french touches and if possible, put something like this: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5OaeCWyWWM0/Uydsfjk4a_I/AAAAAAAAPVM/rJQRtfAIeG4/s1600/ASCP+french+linen+drawers+Lilyfield+Life-001.JPG in front of the bed and the TV on top of it. It's hard to mix contemporary styles and traditional ones. Very tricky! I could take a look and see how it looks with the bed opposite to the current wall, But I'm not sure it will be ok given that the door leading to the bedroom goes directly to the entrance hal... All Cabinets Ltd i Don't really know what the options would be in regards with bespoke furniture. Do you have something I could use as guide? Cheers!

We're all for a bit of hard work, and would definitely paint the cupboards. You are right not to use F&B, it's an inferior paint compared to dulux, and not correct for your purposes, being Eggshell finish. Dulux Trade Satinwood is far better, gives a better finish and is hardwearing. ( It's also more expensive than F&B i'm afraid, but you get what you pay for ). I'd paint the cupboards in a pale grey and replace the knobs. Give the area behind the bed a good dark grey finish, to help with making your choice of headboard really stand out. I really think the last pic is hague blue, I can see the green undertones. You havent mentioned the light levels in your room but if you want something less green, try either Dock Blue by Little Greene, it is very dark but it is a true blue and no hint of teal; or Royal Navy by little greene which is a lighter version of Dock Blue and definitely more blue than Hague. The first pic below is Royal navy in my room (but bear i mind that this is a dark room so colour might be darker than usual); 2nd pic is the official picture from LG of Royal Navy (you can see how much lighter it looks, I imagine this is what it would mostly look like in a south or west room!), 3rd pic is LG picture of Dock Blue.

Love Jen's idea of the Industrial feel - How about a warm brick effect wallpaper behind the bed??
Clips lamps for the bedside wall too - Ikea have a good range and of course, if you don't already have the cables chased in to the wall, you won't need to with that type.

You may be struggling with the curtains as i'm not sure you've got room for the pole to stick out where it meets the wardrobe, maybe perfect fit blinds would be better. You could go for a warm brown to warm the room up, coupled with a chocolate brown Sheepskin rug as suggested by Jen also, it would start to look cosier.
