Long dark living room area - how to separate dining living areas?
Comments (6)How about putting the chest of drawers under the window so it is visible when you first walk into the room. Then put the desk where the chest of drawers is currently. I would then get a large storage TV unit for the end wall where the dark furniture is. This would be best in white or taupe to keep it light in that end of the room. You could even get this made in the same units as the kitchen cupboards. I would buy new 3 seater sofas in a traditional or classic style to suit the antiques in a beige colour linen and then two armchairs in a patterned material - floral or stripe to suit your personal taste. I would keep the sofas in the same position and place the two armchairs facing the TV unit, side by side. You would need to make sure the armchairs were placed so they were easy to walk around and they would need to be small but comfortable. Keep the table where it is and update the lamp to a more statement piece. An orchid (fake or real) on the chest of drawers would add a touch of class. I quite like the rug that is there as it goes nicely with the antiques and you could bring out the blues with a few duck egg blue coloured cushions, and a duck egg blue roman blind would soften the window. Just some ideas.... I'd love to see photos when you've finished, it's a lovely space!...See Moreadvice...sage green for a north facing dining room
Comments (21)Oh HU I’m going through the same dilemma and have received great advice from Houzzers. My chimney breast wall is turning into a patchwork of greens and greys and I’m drowning in tester pots! I’ve tried F&B greens, a couple of Dulux ones and now trying Laura Ashley. I really like LA paint, very good coverage, but not found the right shade yet. I’m liking their Eau de nil but it’s quite dark so I’m going to try Pale Eau de nil. My favourite so far is F&B Cromarty...........good luck with your search!...See Moredark green north face living room?
Comments (14)I think you should go with what makes you happy. Don't be afraid of your own style. Try to choose a nice smokey pink and maybe instead of paint look at some wallpaper that has a little green on the pink that way it will be a softer and less sharp change from the dark green to the pink enabling you to add other tones and textures like natural leather and wood that way you have more options for your sofa colours. scatter cushions will break up the solid colour of a sofa and a mirror over the fireplace will mirror the wall paper opposite bringing it all together. there are some beautiful papers out there!...See Moredark green paint
Comments (8)This is the flooring. It looks a bit darker in the picture than in real life. We definitely don’t want to go neutral on the walls. I don’t do neutral 🤣 My mum has just used oval room blue and it is nice. We have talked about looking at blues. I’ll bring it back up with the decorator (husband). I do love green. We try looking at different colours for the rest of the house and ways get drawn towards blues and greens. @colourhappy - it’s a John Lewis sofa in Sienna. It’s velvet. We are either going to go for that or there’s a couple we like in M&S in a similar fabric...See MoreCarolina
