what colours for wall and what bedside table will look nice?

I have an oatmeal upholstered bed and cream carpets. What bed side table will look nice with this colour? And will a patterned wall behind the bed look nice too? Maybe a subtle wallpaper on one wall? Many thanks for any input !

Beautiful bed. I'd go for soft white bedside tables and layer up neutrals personally.

Hi. You've got a few styles in your ideabook so not sure which to choose! I'd go for a warm grey (brown undertone) textured wallpaper behind the bed such as faux grasscloth or similar (1st pic). I'd paint the remaining walls in the same colour but 1/2 shades lighter. Wood bedside tables would look nice to add warmth or perhaps these faux shagreen ones? I'd add a brown/grey faux fur throw (everything seems to be faux!) and then you could either add burnt orange velvet or deep turquoise cushions on the bed. Repeat the colour for art and maybe a couple more brass accents.

To give you a wild card what about a maple laminate or even a nice modern carpet in a cream or pale grey, pale blue or pale pink. Yes you'll see what I'm getting at a pale colour of flooring would be better looking in my opinion. ( I have oak hardwood flooring with a really pale silver grey wall in my lounge I also have OHW in my hallway with Apple white walls so I concur with the oak suggestion too although I wanted maple coloured hard wood when we were decorating??!! Hi Suzie, could you perhaps do something a bit out of the box and choose something that is a splash of colour? Like a found object? Chinese ceramic stools? you can also go to vintage fairs etc. Or some companies source and stock interesting pieces. This is one : http://www.retrouvius.com/stock/storage I think more grey would be dull, more black would indeed make the room feel too small. I quite like the idea of timber for your chest of drawers etc. Difficult to visualise the space thought! Colour choice is pretty personal. I am partial to blues and purples.. but that is just me! I like the look of the hanging pendant lights but do think it will be a passing trend. Not least because of the practicality issue of non-directional light that you've already mentioned. I used wall lights in the spare bedroom to save surface space on the small bedside tables. They're only cheap £16 ones from IKEA but I think they look nice all the same and they swivel so you can use them directionally. We needed plug in ones which limited our options but I covered the white wire in grey electrical tape to help it blend with the wall colour. hi Simone, sounds lovely , my recommendation would be to somehow incorporate all materials, colours, finishes you wish to include, where within scheme you incorporate each one matters less. E.g. Table can be black, chairs white or visa versa, Gather together on one page all items you'd like to include to achieve the desired look and see if your happy. If it looks good on paper, you are on right track and you should spot if something looks wrong. i think below photos is look you are going for so I think any combination will work lovely with green sofa, best luck
