Please help me choose lights for my
Can anyone suggest what colour or finish I should go for, also whether I should have 3 or 4 hanging down? Currently there are 4 spotlights, the outer 2 are quite near to the edges of the island. I am leaning towards the look of the pendant I have posted, however I’m not sure about that colour perhaps plain white would be better, or plain glass? Or chrome? Please help, electrician is coming on Monday.

6 years agoI definitely think three pendants rather than four. With the classic style of your kitchen I think elegant glass pendants would look lovely. Something like these which a client of ours chose for above her table, you can see them better in the second image. Good luck!

Comments (3)Just had a solid oak floor put into a kitchen/diner/family room. The look is wonderful. I got help from other Houzzers on cleaning and Maintainance which works well so far. It creates an expensive look and is nicer under bare feet for a family space. Maybe a bit more Maintainance is required over all, but I always think that anything nice is worth the effort. Clean with a Swiffer or Vaccum cleaner. Mop up spills and find out from the manufacturer which products to use and when. Comments (4)I think the DSW chairs would look great but I agree they seem to be everywhere now so it's hard to justify the price tag for something which isn't very unique (and essentially just plastic). You mentioned mid century. Have you considered auctions/gumtree. You can pick up a set of original mid century chairs very cheaply if you hunt for them. You can adjust the chain so it fit's almost flush to the ceiling. Comments (6)Love the wallpaper, very classical. Is this a patio door opening to the garden? How much natural light does the room get? These factors influence your choice of fabric eg if u get a lot of sun don’t get a silk material as the sun will damage it. If you don’t get a lot of sun go for a fabric that will help bounce light around eg something with a sheen. Get a fabric that doesn’t ‘bunch’ around the door otherwise it will get in the way as you enter and exit and get tatty. Think about the curtain fixings and the space available above the door and window. Think about the headings you like. In terms of colour, cream and beige are neutral colours (but be aware whether they are cool or warm shades) so you could compliment with colours blue-violet, red, cool blue green - if u buy a colour wheel from amazon (very cheap) you will see how best to pair colours. As curtains are expensive, buy these first and then choose accessories like mirrors as black is a statement and you need to be confident the colours will be complementary. 6 years agolast modified: 6 years agoI think a glass pendant is better above an island, as a metal one tends to focus the light on the spot directly under it and not diffuse much around.

6 years agoHere is a photo of my kitchen, the island is a similar size to yours- I went for one big copper pendant, but I think Luciana’s suggestion with glass are great as they will pick up on your glass backsplash, the pendant you have posted looks a little too neutral, and a bit too small? How many? Things always look better grouped in odd numbers, so I’d say 3....or one big one. Good luck!
