what style of sideboards with dining table and chairs?

We are buying this dining table with chairs already bought (blue and cream velvet). Please can you advise me of the sideboards that would go? I don't want too traditional looks but something that will suit. The decor is grey walls, oak hardwood floor and white skirting. Open plan kitchen next door has white cabinets. Thank you very much.

The one in your picture behind the chairs in cream with wooden top? Your table and chairs have a traditional country vibe and I think it’s best to stick with that style. Love the legs on the table by the way!

Thank you! If you can see right in the back the sideboards that go with the table, I'm not sure in a small space will that look too much. The dining room is in an open plan area with different decor style in the living area (although it's not right next to each other). I can put up a pic of the room itself a bit later to show the background.

First of all the Kitchen fit out looks beautiful, very sleek! I would certainly go down the route of New Nordic or contemporary. I can also thoroughly recommend getting a nice sized table that will work without the need for extensions. Having an extending table throws up the question of where do you keep the extra seats, or if they are fold up, where do I get good quality fold up chairs that are comfortable for guests? I would look at getting a pair of the radius benches from Habitat to go in the back corner, or look at getting a banquette made up. Benches mean you can squeeze in an extra guest or two! a small T12 table from Hay and a few of the Hiroshima chairs by Naoto Fukasawa I think these sleek but warms designs will complement the wood already in the room, but not fuddle the sleek look of the kitchen by adding lots of extra details.

How about an L shaped built in bench with storage underneath,an oblong table in front and then foldable chairs for extra seating when you have guests? I would put a large framed mirror on the wall opposite the window to reflect light and open up the space and some colourful art work on the wall opposite the door. If you can run to having a light fitting put in over the table, this would really make the area feel special!

That's really beautiful...the table legs are a statement themselves. You could really add a lot of colour with your chairs or keep it pretty neutral. I am picturing 2 chairs on the ends of the table with arms and 4 chairs on either side of the table without arms. Here are a few examples...do you have a favourite colour or print or texture? Or you could keep the colour simple like the all white or even black chair below but add a cool design feature (the back of the chair) and then just style with a rectangular tray or 3 different sized vases. Hi Christian, Firstly, what a fantastic space you have created, with lots of light from the large windows and a fabulous kitchen/relaxing area, I love your sofa. I note that Beano kindly recommended Go Modern and we would love to help you choose some furniture for your amazing space. I see that you are thinking of a glass table, but larger than the one you already have and some chairs to go with it, as well as a rug, a couple of armchairs and a coffee table. I think the glass dining table that you are looking at is really nice and a good size for the space, but I wondered if you had considered a ceramic table top as this might also work for you. I'd go for anything that you like the shape of then get some paint mixed the same colour blue as is in your chairs then paint it. You can't really go for any other wood than oak, and too much oak may look funny, so I vote blue.

Quite a few places sell them already that colour, so if they go with the chairs then great:- Blue sideboard at Bedroom Furniture.co.uk

Thank you for the suggestions! I will take a look online... at the moment, I'm really liking the scandi legs on furniture but this will clash with the traditional curved legs look? Here is a pic below of my dining area anyway, with the table above and the blue and cream chairs (table in this pic is my current smaller one). I also need a cupboard made in one corner for storage (We have nothing for holding hoover, ironing table etc) which will impact on the 'look' with sideboards.. a large blue wall clock can hold up the look with the blue chairs too?
