stripped pine or dark grey gloss panelling?
Comments (16)I think that should you have the stamina to strip all of the panelling and window you will find some of wood won’t be good enough to leave unpainted. Personally I would paint the wall and the paneling and skirting in the same wipeable Matt paint- be sure to choose a grey with an undertone of something else to avoid the battleship look. I would paint the ceiling a pale shade of the wall colour and then the coving and ceiling rose a soft white- the ceiling colour will help to make the features more prominent. Be careful removing the plaster near the coving so as to not loosen the coving - an angle grinder will help get a straight cut below the coving. Personally I would rather see the plaster replaced and a feature fireplace added as I think it is more in keeping with the remaining features in the room. Given that the room could be gloomy you will need to add gilt and mirrors, a pale rug and lots of different lighting sources....See MoreHallway- to panel or not to panel?
Comments (23)Gosh that looks marvellous! Def want to panel my hallway too now (after finishing the sitting room, doing the bathrooms, painting bedrooms, winning the lottery to fund it all..... etc!) How long did it take to complete the panels, and did you do them all the way up all of your stairs? Runner is fab. Love the festiveness too :-)...See MoreLiving Room - Victorian Panelling and Posts - Help!
Comments (10)Fantastic space! And I LOVE the pillars they make the room unique and will be a lovely impressive finish to the room if you're wanting to keep it elegant. You say you would like to keep it natural and warm and cosy because you have a toddler so you want it to be a comforting and inviting space, so the sofas you have are perfect, to section off the room why not consider placing the 3 seater in the centre of the pillars? I think with a little one running around radiator covers are a good idea. But the current ones will kill the look you're wanting to achieve, so keep the idea of having them, but perhaps have some tailor made to suit your theme? You can then get a little creative and make them look more stylish. See example in my pic below. Also you have a lovely opening into the garden but the lighting seems a little dark during the day, so I would definitely keep your colour scheme light and airy, that way if you keep the pillars you can just paint them a solid white so they soften and won't look as bulky. I had a look at the Zoffany Paint colour chart for you (I adore them). And I think they have some lovely modern takes on the colour beige, like their colour called "canvas", "milk" or "Lily" for example. That way you can keep the carpet and build your look around that....you can order a paint chart from this link. https://www.stylelibrary.com/paint/zoffany-paint/...See MoreKitchen colour end panel help.
Comments (31)If thats over 500.00 for the 900x1200 panel then that's just taking the p***, i had a quick look on line and found a 900x1200 georgia marine panel at 117 plus delivery at https://www.onlinekitchensuk.co.uk/online-store/appliance-store/browse/brand/Kitchen-Stori/type/Panels/category/End-Panel/colour/Georgia-Marine/ but i would imagine this would be the same as you already have with unfinished edges on the 900 sides so you wouldn't be any further forward. Might be worthwhile giving them a call to check if its finished on all 4 edges. Have you asked your designer/supplier how they proposed finishing the sides of your island. 900 deep islands are pretty standard with base units and shallow depth units back to back and i would of thought a big company like Uform would have something for them. There is one other way of finishing your island i can think of but tbh its not a method I ever offer and that is getting four 715x447 doors and extra plinth. Fit 2 doors each side so they're dummy doors and you have the 3mm gap between the 2 doors so they look like a run of doors. Then you'll need to run plinth at the bottom, ideally the plinth would be set back 40mm so it looks the same as everywhere else (so legs would need to be set back) and then the plinth would have to mitred and glued together. Its not a look i like and its a lot of extra work....See MoreBath Bespoke
