I'm lost! Please help with my kitchen.
Comments (544)Hello Amanda, : )) Do you mean in the kitchen? Yes a nice idea. I like flat plate too, but really plain. Well the best way to describe how I feel about certain alterations is to tell you about someone I knew who "did up" her flat to such a degree that she literally took away all that was characterful about it.. Sometimes it's best to leave things as their patina develops over time and results in something quite special. Restoration is one thing but you can also restore the life out of something and thus diminish in certain contexts the value- and so it's good to know when to stop.. So yes, I'm firmly in the camp suggesting leave them, but of course it's entirely your choice. : ))...See MorePOLL: Which room are you most proud of?
Comments (28)We've recently had our kitchen refurbished with a wall down between the kitchen and breakfast room, then new wood flooring added and a new light oak kitchen installed by Kensworth Kitchens with lots of pull out storage and a new American style fridge freezer. We chose our Ivory Cream granite slabs from Chiltern Marble. I love the mantle with storage within and the light granite makes the classic design much more lighter and modern. The island is two sets of three pan drawers including wide cutlery drawers. I love everything organised and to hand when I'm cooking. The bank of tall cupboards at the breakfast end with swing out storage is wonderful. Everyone who has seen the kitchen is wowed by it, this makes me feel very proud to have such a lovely kitchen, particularly as when we bought the house 11 months ago the kitchen was badly designed and very tired and shabby, I appreciate having a beautiful kitchen I designed to suit my needs....See MoreHelp needed! Comments (10)I feel your pain and you are not alone, albeit yours is an extreme case. We were left with a crap subfloor in our (cripplingly expensive) kitchen extension. I won’t bore u as I posted about it before. The only real solution is to rip it out and redo - however due to underfloor heating and a kitchen being installed this isn’t immediately feasible and without an admission that thingsarent right (settlement my arse) we aren’t in a hurry to address things, even cosmetically, we can’t afford to! my friend and neighbour is 3 yrs down the line following building work and only just finishing (small Victorian semi!) due to a whole litany of bad practice-builders (with every credential going inc loads of recommendation) went awol, Plumber’s work led to condemned boiler., all new bathrooms had to be ripped out the list goes on. another friend is paying 15k to have roof work redone after a bodge job from her builder who got off at court due to a technicality. theres no answer other than confronting them, escalating cases to legal eagles, and naming and shaming those who rip u off and take no responsibility for bad practice or even sometimes genuine errors. once u get your house back you’ll soon get inspired and want to finish it off nicely (and quickly)! Have u lined up someone to redo works?...See MoreAmy G
