where to buy furniture...

Hi everyone

I am struggling to find some furniture. I am on a budget means(all for less than £2,000, not include chairs) but don’t want to compromise with luxury feeling. Has anyone know where should I look at?

1. luxury 60cm height TV unit for 75” tv. —- little bit of background; anthracite sofa and mustard chair with quite white-ish carpet floor and shinny grey wall and wall hung 75” TV. I already made sockets and cable plate to hide all cables and sockets. However, I made a big mistake that I thought I could find 60cm height luxury style unit but really hard to find one. I am thinking at least 2.5metres long unit, don’t mind two together. But they need to be 60cm tall.
I like this type of style below but it is only 40cm tall.

2. Luxury black mahogany table(madison style or other style are all ok) for 3chairs line up each side. Products in Houzz are so lovely but they are too much for me.
I love this table,not chairs but it’s too expensive.

Hi Nathalie, In the UK ebay uk, gumtree, freecycle are good places to start. Depending on where you are based in the country, there are a second hand shops, local auction houses and charity shops galore. You WILL have to sift through the rubbish to find what you want, but it is worth it when you find the hidden treasure. Some things you may wish to upcycle. There would be no harm in finding out how much it would cost for someone local to re-upholster a couch, should you find the one of your dreams, but in the wrong colour/ condition. Some things will also need a dam good clean. There really are some gems out there. I love second hand furniture, because it is cheaper, but also because it is more eco friendly and you can find items which are totally unique. An example which comes into my head is an old nursing armchair which I bought from a charity shop for £20. It was ripped and filthy. It looked like it had spent a few years in the garage. A proper clean (£30) and then paid £70 for someone to make slip on covers (so also machine washable) in a cracking tweed, that brings the whole room in together. So £120 of cash and 5/6 hours of my time in total. I saw a similar chair last weekend in a shop for £900. Might help you convince the OH too ! :) Good Luck! K @ JML Garden Rooms

Mylands. You always regret your economies. I've repainted this kitchen 4X over the years, and last time was in Dulux which wore so poorly. Just custom mixed a new vibrant duck egg to paint my kitchen in marble matt walls, eggshell woodwork, and floor paint. Mylands matched impeccably. It was a dream of coverage, and looks spectacular. The quality of the pigment shows, looks the money, nothing like synthetic mediocre pigments in cheaper paint. It's a big improvement.

Some great inspiration photos. We think that the French style from the top photo would be the best for a teen (girly but not too girly). Sticking to a simple colour palette of grey, white and a soft pink will make it easy to create a scheme that works together. We use a lot of the local Facebook pages, Ebay is still ok, but it's gone downhill over the last couple of years and it's getting much harder to sell anything on there!
