Kitchen Extension, Pendant lighting when breakfast bar under the steel
Comments (12)Hi Moggles i have a similar renovation starting and have the same thoughts re pendant lighting from steel. Are you actually allowed to have anything coming from the steel itself or won't this negate the fire proofing measures put in place ? So if you are allowed to hang directly from under the steel the next concern is the head height as looking at your photos it does look limited. I have actually bought 2 pendant fittings so i can decide when the time is right which is going to look best. One is a standard pendant with 3 lights dropping from it ... quite ordinary. The other is a long thin led bar that i thought could be hung with as much or little drop from the ceiling as required. It's quite similar to this but i think slimmer (it doesn't seem to be available now :/ ) http://www.litecraft.co.uk/quartz-rectangular-led-ceiling-pendant-chrome In fact it's really similar to the one shown by Modus above ! Will be following this thread with interest to see how you progress !...See MoreBreakfast bar lighting

Comments (10)Good points about the drawers, I agree they would look better moved to the end of the run. Then perhaps I could have doors that open over the corner of the breakfast bar to improve access. Although I was going to have bins in that end cupboard so it might not work after all. Currently considering scrapping the oven tower and maybe keeping our current freestanding oven (or getting a range if budget permits). I'm so indecisive and feeling the pressure as my husband just says yeah to everything I suggest without really thinking about it! The breakfast bar is currently 113cm plus any overhang so I can't work out of pendant lights would look a bit cramped over it? If so, perhaps just one central pendant light with spotlights. I quite like a more vintage style. I'll be keeping my green delonghi kettle and toaster so will try and work in colour to blend....See MoreHow many pendant lights on a 1.8m breakfast bar?
Comments (3)Thank you so much for your comments - I did try to attach a photo and twice it showed as attached but fails to have loaded. Anyway I agree - I love 3 more than 2 - it feels the right number to me. Whilst 2 decent sized ones would be fine too, I think the breakfast bar might look bigger with 3, plus we are having 3 seats under so I think 3 is what I'll go with. I hadn't thought about the size of the shades, so thank you for the advice of sticking to 25cm or less....See MoreBath Bespoke
