Bathroom Refurb - colour advice please!

Hi there,
We have recently moved into a new house and want to spruce up the main bathroom without completely redoing it.
The sanitary ware is white and there are dark grey floor tiles and cream wall tiles but the overall look is uninspiring.
We are getting the damaged bath panel replaced but I would like some ideas regarding paint colour and how I can make it look better.
Would consider a bold colour scheme or neutral for the ‘spa’ feel but don’t know where to start - help please Houzzers!

Comments (17)Hello Anna, This is approximately what I mean... Image shows bath in same spot but you could move it along to suit. They are on the same plane... I'm suggesting be more interesting with choices for things like storage etc... Screen could be longer too and perhaps think of a shelf built into the tiling so its not stuck on... Little wooden bench to sit on... Floor and ceiling tiles to create a seamless finish.. Wall hung basin and loo without vanity unit which I find a boring option. Build in towel shelving and storage into the fabric of the bathroom rather than add pieces... apart from little things like stool etc... Think of really fabulous finishes and fixtures.. Have a flat wooden "sleeper" for a under sink shelf - adding woods to marble or polished concrete screeds, or painted plaster is a gr8 way to introduce warm natural elements.. so you can create a "spa" feel and be ultra modern but different at the same time... : ))...See MoreUpdating a small, white-tiled bathroom and colour advice please.

I bought a new sink and vanity from IKEA: https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/products/washstands-taps/wash-stands/fullen-t%C3%A4lleviken-wash-basin-cabinet-white-spr-39891444/ However, it's occurred to me since that it'll take up too much of the room/floorspace, especially as the sink faces you as you walk in. I've been looking at other designs, and the wall-hung sink with a nicer-looking chrome waste could be a much better option. Added to this, if I'm tiling the floor, I'll probably need to buy a new loo, and IKEA doesn't do matching loos. Therefore...where can I buy a basic loo/basin package? What's the difference between a 'toilet and basin' and a 'cloakroom suite'? Should I go for one or two tap holes? Am I wasting my money? 6 years agoHi, I think a deep muted colour would look great, but with a darker colour I think you would need to address lighting to make it feel more luxurious. I don’t see a mirror above the sink. Maybe a mirror cabinet with overhead lighting or wall lights either side would do the trick. Another bold option to consider is wallpaper. Loads of styles to choose from and to protect it from water/steam use decorators varnish over the top. Agree with Jen P with dark wood bath panel as this will match your blind. Here’s some ideas:

6 years agoHi. It's hard to tell colours online but your tiles seem to have a green undertone, wonder if farrow and ball mouses back (1st pic) would work? I'd add a wooden bath mat, this one is available from Victorian plumbing. On the wall opposite the sink a towel holder with a hammam towel, this is from not on the high street and available in a few colours. Do you also have room for art on that wall? I'd add a potted plant at the end of the bath. If you have the space then 3 small dark wood shelves over the wc and mirror over the sink and add candles etc.

6 years agoThanks all - some great advice. Think bolder is the way forward although I’m not keen on the dark wood blind so was planning on getting rid of it - maybe need to rethink given your comments or go for warmer wood shelves?
Have seen following colour ideas so need to decide if I’m brave enough!
