Hi everyone we have just had a sliding door fitted. 4.5 meter width with 3 panes (1 fixed) and it is an aluminium trip glide frame.
Something I was not expecting in the fitting process was for them to attach a piece of timber to the steel lintel. This was done to give a better fixing and reduce the risk of the frame twisting due to its size and weight of the the panes according to the company.
The issue I have is it gives an extra depth to the top of the frame as we also need to cover the timber.
Not a huge issue but wanted to check and see if I am being fobbed off and this is all about a mess up with the measurements or fitting timber is a normal practice on a wide frame like this with a steel lintel
Thanks for any views
