Need help with the dining area in my kitchen
Comments (44)What a beautiful and perfect table you found! Hubba hubba - those legs are just gorgeous. Well done and thanks for calling out to me. As for the chair mix, I think four beige and two merlot would be lovely. I think you like a traditional look, so I'm a bit worried that you won't be happy with it. If the table will normally be smaller with four beige chairs around it and maybe put the two merlot ones on either side of the radiator cover/"console", then definitely do the mix. Mismatched chairs around a dining table are often all different or the same make and model in a multitude of colours or the same colour in different styles. Do a Houzz search and see if you can find your planned mix and if you like the look. If in doubt, get four beige and look at them for a while! You could tie the two chair colours together with little cushions on the chairs - maybe just on the two merlot ones. Both of these are too big, I think, but the colours are good. http://www.notonthehighstreet.com/reasonhome/product/pondicherry-flower-silk-cushion-cover http://www.notonthehighstreet.com/emmalonsdale/product/chit-chat-rectangular-cushion This one might be the right size: http://www.notonthehighstreet.com/jennysibthorp/product/lobster-pot-screen-printed-natural-linen-cushion I covet the table already so I can't wait to see him all polished up.......See MoreHave I made the wrong decision?
Comments (57)Looks like an old thread but l'd like to comment anyway. Leave it as is. This is a great Mediterranean look. The grout is fine - a white grout would look rather blank here, and l'm so glad the mirror is simple and you placed it on a simple wood backing. The concrete basin stand adds an understated industrial touch whilst the style of the porcelain fittings is perfectly timeless and l like taps too. The shower sure does need a glass screen to keep water from raining all over the place! You could make the blue pop out further by using a combination of grey and two blues in your towels. Well done for this brave success!...See MoreOur Kitchen Design - what's wrong with it?
Comments (64)Although the kitchen is white, it is set into a return where there is little direct light from the very large window which casts shadows in the space making even a white kitchen look sombre by contrast. I would suggest more powerful down lights at least 13W that would highlight and reflected off the stunning gloss units. Additionally you could add plinth lighting under the kitchen units. Cool white to keep it minimalist or RGB ribbon (red, green, blue, which would allow you to colour mix) which can give the kitchen a whole spectrum of characters depending on the colour you choose or both RGB and W to keep your options open. Ribbon light is also a low cost way to improve this space. Ensure you get nothing lower than 9W per metre as it may not have enough light output against the natural light from the window....See MoreWhere did I go wrong? Through lounge does not flow
Comments (16)1. Swap the window seats for s low upholstered bench. 2. Add a side table between the door and sofa, with a table lamp. 3. Hang something beautiful over the fireplace. A painting or mirror, and other smaller paintings behind the sofa. 4. Replace the two tall dark pieces of furniture with mid-height pieces to balance the tall chimney breast. These should have table lamps or wall lights above. 5. If it still needs more, add a low coffee table in the middle and low stools....See Morehoneypoppet
