The exact shingle description for this project is Extras Bleaching Oil Shingles, Maibec W-C Nantucket "Maibec Extra Bleach" R&R

I really think you should consider timber. All WWA members have their windows tested against air and water leakage, so there won't be any problems there. They come factory-finished in any RAL colour and can be repainted (outside or inside) whenever you want. And the frames will last twice as long as plastic. I would replicate its original windows, which are beautiful. It's a handsome house - keep its value by keeping its authentic character.

I would agree with the previous comments and suggest the following; 1. If DIY confident pick a nice masonry paint colour ( fan of Dulux cobblestone) and paint house brick front and side including side of steps. Paint railings. 2. Purchase two/three garden trellis and cut to size, paint with same colour masonry paint and place around step structure. Plant a few evergreen creepers in front to soften and add colour. 3. Dig a planting area perpendicular to house along driveway from trellis to front entrance and plant with a low evergreen hedge such as box hedging or a mix of box with grasses. 4. Repair lawn. 5. Cut and shape plant/hedge at bend in of garden or remove entirely if in bad shape. Budget of £300 - £500. Best of luck!!

I agree, converting the garage would improve the kerb appeal as you'd get a nice double frontage instead of a garage door staring at you. If you need to keep the garage then you could at least paint the door so it does contrast=stand out so much. Better planting to frame the front door + a new front door would be a massive improvement too. I wouldn't worry about grey windows, though - it is a bit of a fad and will soon fall out of favour just as brown Windows have. Also, I can't see that they would go with the brickwork.

It all comes down to budget as always. The bigger the budge the more you can do. I would be really mindful of the fact, that if you change the facade, it would be better if you could change the windows. The wood cladding I agree would look fabulous, you could have the bottom a lovely grey to tone in. However, neither will look good with bog standard white windows, as both look better with a dark grey, thinner Aluminium Frame or a Chunkier Sandy Beige Frame. When you add white windows, the effect is not quite so slick The pic above shows the white windows with the cladding and it would look a lot better with the darker, thinner frames. If you can't afford to change or colour bond the windows, then maybe go for all over colour, a dark grey would be good, and consider changing the Front door for impact. Alternatively, work towards doing the ultimate change. The vertical wood cladding, with a grey underneath and a door to match the wood. Thinner dark pewter aluminium framed windows etc. sorry about the mock up quality!
