I would like to have the changed into a tidy walk in wardrobe and like the colour of glass you have had put in
Please can you help with a rough estimate on line and a carpenter recommendation.

Help decide on colour for laminate fitted wardrobes

Hello Karina, I see what you mean. It depends on the feel you want for your bedroom. Do you want a pop of colour ? By the picture in the room it looks like you do not mind this. If yes you can cover them with wallpaper. Get an Acrylic/ perspex mirror. Or attach coloured perspex. Or just completely change the doors to a colour. Using colours from your picture, headboard or ottoman. Pastel colours for calm, brights for a wow or for exotic look golds, metallics, which will go with your other picture. If you have space move the ottoman to the foot of the bed and then make that recess area into a snug seating area with a comfy chair small table to put a drink on and a plant which will change the look and could guide you more. Mmm! The more I look at it could be that area just needs to be covered so that same doors that will give it an more complete cohesive look. Then paint it a gloss, rather than a matt. Laminate painting can be a mare so you could check out your local garage that spray paints cars and they could spray paint the doors evenly. Or buy a spray gun and do it yourself. Then it would like a more of a built in. I think more personal objects will guide you too. If we can see the other blue gold picture it will give us more of an Idea to work on. Blue gold yellow and teal sound exotic, so a feature wall in those exotic colours will take your eye away from the built ins. Or maybe then put the same wall paper with the comfy chair in the recess.... Have fun.

That is tricky what if you were to panel the chimney breast to match/complement the wardrobes so essentially extend the chimney breast with panelling so the hanging space on the lefthand side of the right alcove wouldn't have a door (if you get what i mean!) It’s a dilemma, isn’t it, when something is too good to rip out but really not your style? If you can’t keep the wardrobes in the single room, could you use those spare units to fill in the bit in the main bedroom where overhead lockers and dressing table bit are? So you end up with one interrupted row of useful wardrobes. I think the layout is what looks so dated. You’d have to move your bed to the other side of the room of course (and maybe remove some of the other units to make space) but you’d not then be sleeping with an oppressive row of cabinets over your head. I would want to paint those doors or cover them with fabric, but there are loads of people with experience about that who will be along to help no doubt.
