Hi, I suggest you move the mirrors up , at the level of the window because they are too low , with this you will create a hight of the room , the carpet it is a problem : 1: it keeps the dust in the house and 2: you can never have a clean room with it . I also suggest get some money put a wood floor and the radiator can be cut out , moved on the floor heating , then you can decide if you want or not to create a small place to sit at the window or the corner where your closet is a small table with a chair where you can rest and have also a make-up session . Move the curtains close to the level of the ceiling and try to find a fade coloured curtain that can create an accent in the room (just because you have a patter wall that does not mean everything in the house should have a patter as well) and i suggest a plant because it keeps the air clean even when you sleep . i can try to make you a design suggestion and see more of what i am writing you, but i will need some specific measurements of the room (height- distance from the wall to the window and to the corner and after to the door , i assume that is where the master-bedroom bath is . Hi Katie - Congratulations on the imminent arrival! Friends have just bought their 1st house, another is starting a home Bridal business and both have babies and toddlers - I take my hat off to them. Went to the 1st home yesterday and Emily has decorated almost half of the house - white,white white and it's so refreshing. She'll get round to it as time allows adding art later as she finds and can afford it. I admired 3 amazing pieces of framed art in the kitchen, and was stunned to find her 3 year old painted them! For the future I think it's a lovely thing to do as opposed to just sticking bits of paper onto the wall. So... I agree that getting started before the birth is terrific and, with regard to the hallway, which I'm assuming is entrance, and depending on the size available, a box for outdoor shoes would be good - perhaps white wicker? Oblong? Have a look at Wayfair and in particular Naeve Leuchten for lighting ideas. It's all there. Achica is a site I use often for fabulous reduced price bargains. They only order from the distributor when the deal closes so you may have to wait, but there's always a rough guide as to when delivery would be. I'm sure that when your gorgeous wallpaper is up and the hall is both decorated and dressed you'll see which mirror is right. Perhaps the black framed mirror would look fine above the console??? Maybe the other one could be placed directly at the top of the stairs to reflect the hall or - random - on the door??? The 'THREE' thing relates to gardening - three or five pots/bushes etc, but a lamp, a trinket/key tray and then maybe a low vase would follow this rule too. Good luck with all of this - sorry the lengthy reply has taken you away from decorating, so go girl, pick up the brush and open the paint pots! Sorry to not get back before now, decorating myself! OK, so there is definitely a lady there and definitely doesn't want grey walls. With the added information that the curtains are claret with gold streaks, I would say - go for the gold then. Also if you have some pine furniture, this makes total sense. If you look at the photo I included (and sure you can google for others) the floor is golden and wall grey, so just reverse things, wall gold tone and carpet grey. You can get some test pots and try out against the curtains to see if picks up at slight gold, but still goes with the claret and grey. Only trying these out will tell you how light or dark or bright or muted gold to go. I would advise putting two coats on a large piece of paper at least A3 and then taping that to wall, this is better as done on white so shows the true colour tone, plus and you can move it around and even better, not have to paint it out afterwards! Try looking at these samples in different lights at different times of day, with lamps on only, overhead lights only etc. I think you have the basis for a really good scheme. I would agree with adding texture in cushions etc (at later stage) make you can take them back to store and keep tags on until you're absolutely sure, you really need to try stuff in situ to make sure it works in your setting. About white - looks fine in brightly lit spaces in full lighting, like well lit bathrooms and kitchens, not so good in pokey corners or rooms with any shadows at all. Can be very hard and cold, even clinical in many Northern European rooms, especially in winter!
