London Victorian - what to budget for kitchen & bathroom?
Comments (3)Bathroom - reckon on £3/4k for labour, £30 sq meter for tiles, £3k for white goods but you could easily spend 3 times that on the goods and a lot more on labour. Say £8k? Kitchen - reckon on £5k for all the labour and prep. Tiling the floor could be more expensive if you need it plying. Appliances could be anything from £1,500 to skies the limit - say £3k for decent quality. Worktops - from £400 for laminate to £4,000 for an expensive quartz or granite. Furniture should be around £4k+ if you buy decent quality but you might speak to a salesman at Wren who just happens to be able to offer you a special discount the day you go in because err, it's a Tuesday or something so that would mean the furniture costing not £8k but £4k... oh... Anyway, reckon on £12-£14k for the kitchen....See MoreCheap bathroom makeover ideas !
Comments (12)I think painting the walls grey as suggested will help immensely with bringing the tiles into the scheme. The suite apart from the sink looks alright though, I would change the sink to a more modern shape and then you could include storage underneath. I had to replace a sink in my bathroom but I matched the dimensions of the original and there was no damage or repair work needed. An alternative sink could be rectangular in shape and this could cover any gaps in tiling etc. Left by your existing sink. Duravit do a good quality cheap one. I would change the window though as it is unattractive but I guess that might be a longer term job!...See MoreTiles and lighting advice for spa style bathroom

Comments (2)I think a simple grey floor tile, assuming your marble panels are grey and white, would be a nice solution. Another option is to go for black and white floor tiles giving a nod to the Victorian age of your home. Some people carry the marble look through into the flooring too....See MoreCarolina
