Great staircase, how do you manage without newel posts?

How have you made the handrail stable enough without newel posts please?

Hello Anastasia, I hope you are well. I love the Cole and Son hicks hexagon too and it does look absolutely stunning on the wall. The quality is great too. Both designs will create a WOW and look fabulous and the hall is the place to do it. CC - the bottom newel post had to be replaced as it was wonky and couldn't be sanded down to get rid of the wire brush edging. Also, it was pine and I wanted to have it stained to match the original oak railing. Unfortunately, the original handrail wasn't straight and had a big knot in the middle so it was impossible to fit the new spindles/balusters. Both bottom newel post and cap and handrail are new oak. I will have them stained with an Osmo terra or a similar shade of stain, black brown without any orange or terracotta undertones.

I’d paint it - maybe 2 tone as some of the comments suggest. I did mine this summer, absolutely love how stylish it looks. I used chalk paint which needed no undercoat (some mahogany coloured stain previously) - although the grey took better than the white. Your stair gate suggest kids, I have 3 small ones and a few chips have appeared on mine, but overall I’m pleased with it. It gets a lot of comments when people come over. (We also need new carpet but holding off until the youngest gets potty trained)

Looks great :-) really like that wallpaper, as I did the first time you posted it as an option for your bathroom :-) Great little space, re the ceiling, I think it would look great painted the same colours as the walls if you wanted to change it! Looks good as it too :-)
