Hello, we use Common oak, also known as English oak, or European oak and most of our supply comes green (as in freshly felled) from the forests around Normandy in France. The oak in the Show Barn has been sandblasted.

Hi Irma, I just bought something very similar for my husband's studio. Light grey flooring will look great with white, black and all tones of grey. It depends if you would like to keep the whole house looking light or dark. This one does have some red and yellow in it, but that just opens a wider palette of colors to use it with. In the studio we have a couple of dark walls (dark grey carpet actually) and they look beautiful as a contrast to the light floor. We did a light grey for the ceiling and other walls and it looks really warm in comparison to the white floor. It really depends on the look you want to achieve, but if you want to stay within a relatively monochrome pallet that will be quite easy to play with. Good luck.

Even though I am a fan of oak doors and I like how they look in most cases, in this case, it would be a bit excessive. They would not match the general atmosphere in the house that is so light and even a little Victorian. You may try and install some small 1930s internal doors made of oak and see for yourself. It might work if you choose the correct color. I would paint it too creamy white, so it does not stand out much. It’s up to you, and you must decide what you like the most. You can find many pictures on the Internet and apply them to your house to see what it will look like.
